A 14 Yeas Old Orphan Has Given Birth To A Baby Boy.
An Orphan’s Child Similar to poverty, orphan-hood is a vicious cycle. When children don’t have family they don’t know how to be family. Many aged-out orphans from the orphanages end up relinquishing their own children to an orphanage. It is vital to have adoptive/foster families taken in children. This will help end the broken cycle of orphan-hood in many children’s lives.
I received a call on Sunday afternoon, April 9th 2017 that a 14 year old orphan girl had given birth to a baby boy since Wednesday April 5th 2017 at the Ridge Hospital, Accra, Ghana and had no relative to pay her bill. I rushed to the hospital through a heavy out pour of rain to make sure she wasn’t persuaded to give her child up or worse. I paid the hospital bill, assuring the girl had the right to leave with her baby and started asking questions to learn more about her situation. The young girl’s sister had brought her to the capital city to find her work as house help. Within a month of beginning her job, it became apparent that she was pregnant for 6 Months unknowingly. The sister had hoped that the new employer would take care of her. Unfortunately the pregnancy wasn’t simple and she needed a C-section in her 8th Month. Though her new employer had shouldered many of the check-up costs, she couldn’t pay for the procedure and didn’t know what to do, so she left her there in hopes that family would re-emerge. I decided to reach out to the employer, who had shown a willingness to help but inability to pay for the larger bills. I explained to her that Ghana Without Orphans had covered the bill and talked through arrangements with her to have her care for the orphan girl and her new baby boy. Ghana Without Orphans will cover all associated costs with caring for them. This is a unique foster situation and we are hopeful to see God’s grace and divine will work out for everyone involved. Please keep this young girl, her new son and the gracious employer in your prayers.
