Topic: where your treasure is
Matthew 6:19-21. Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
20 But keep on storing up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal,
21 because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
This is one of the sermon that our Lord Jesus preached on the mount. It's about our Christian relationship with the Lord.
If you have a father and has no relationship with that father, then he is not our father.
God expect us to work with him closely. He is not interested in distance relationship or ceremonial father.
Jesus want us to relate to him and anyone who is a child of God must treasure God. We must value Jesus.
We must put value on him. He must be the number one important person in your life.
Some of us think about other things first apart from Jesus.
Everything is about you will get it but Christ is what we have to pursue.
Every living thing greatest challenge is how we make money, that's what we treasures. The scripture says we should not put our treasure on earthly things.
There are things here on earth that we value and want to acquire. Money and the like.
But Jesus is saying that we should not lay up ourselves with earthly treasures.
Don't think alone about how to live on earth as it was done in the days of old.
Building a house is not a sin but don't value it more than God.
Jesus is saying that we should not do that because is shall be destroyed by nature.
Some people's treasures on earth has already been destroyed by thieves.
Luke 12:.32-34. Stop being afraid, little flock, because your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33 “Sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that don’t wear out—a dependable treasure in heaven, where no thief can get close and no moth can destroy anything.
So when you put your treasure up in heaven, it will be safe. No thieves or mouse will destroy it.
Some people can not even sleep because of their earthly treasures, their hope and life depends on such things.
So Jesus is saying that don't treasure earthly things but when you put it in heaven they will never be stolen. The watchmen in heaven never sleep nor slumber.
You are supposed to put your treasure up in heaven and absolutely no one will touch it.
1 Timothy 6:18-19. They are to do good, to be rich in good actions, to be generous, and to share.
19 By doing this they store up a treasure for themselves that is a good foundation for the future, so that they can keep their hold on the life that is real.
God is not against riches but he wants us to prosper having him in mind.
Our riches should be towards the promotion of God. By doing this, your treasure will be stored as a good foundation for the future.
When we give to those in need, we are doing so to the glory of God.
Some people treasure food to the extent that they kill for it. Others have to do worse things just to take possession of a property, thus their treasure is there.
May you lay up treasures in heaven instead.
In our prosperity, we should have God in mind. Our success should be towards God.
All that we are fighting for, we will leave them here on earth. We should rather think of things of God.
Where is your investment?
Is your treasure in heaven or on earth?
Where your treasure is there your heart will be.
If you value the things of God, you must work to protect it.
Some of us because our heart is not in the church, we help to destroy it.
All treasures are to be subjected to God and he must direct you as to how to use it.
He that is in touch with internal realities can well afford to hold earthly possession with a loose hand.
Those who lay up earthly treasures by spending their resources with the need, they are growing richer in the faith .
May the Lord help us and make us hold our treasures in heaven.
Matthew 6:21. because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Our heart is the control centre of our life. Everything comes from the heart, so what control your heart is very important.
May you lay up treasures in heaven so it will control our heart.
Luke 12:19-21. Then I’ll say to myself, “You’ve stored up plenty of good things for many years. Take it easy, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.”’
20 But God told him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you. Now who will get the things you’ve accumulated?’
21 That’s how it is with the person who stores up treasures for himself rather than with God.”
Anyone who lay up treasures on earth is a fool. If all your life is about earthly harvest, then they will die.
So God want us to lay treasures in heaven. Real wealth is laying up treasures in heaven.
Most rich people have everything on earth yet they have no satisfaction, no happiness just because their riches has no God in mind.
All that you have is not yours, You May give out when the Lord say so
Let's learn how to lay up treasures in heaven for us to enjoy all the blessing associated with it.
Where our treasure is, There our heart will be.
Amen.
