YOU CAN RETURN TO GOD
SCRIPTURE: LUKE 15:11-32

One story in the Bible that typically exemplifies the Mercy of God towards sinners is the story of the prodigal son as recorded in Luke 15.

A rich man had two sons. One of the sons requested for all of his inheritance and travelled to a far away city to squander his wealth. Upon realizing his mistakes, the boy decided to go back to his father to ask for forgiveness. The father in his love and mercy accepted the boy back.

This parable represents how God treats anyone who comes to Him in genuine repentance. God doesn't reject anyone who comes to Him. God is merciful. God forgives sins.

Today, please let's learn from this prodigal son and return to God in repentance from our sins. No matter what you may have done. No matter how far you may have moved away from God. No matter how deep your sins may be, you can still return to God in repentance. God won't reject you.

May God show us Mercy and cleanse us from our sins. Amen.

IS JESUS YOUR LORD?
SCRIPTURE: LUKE 6:46
"Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?"

Many of us believers address Jesus Christ as our LORD? But is Jesus truly "Lord" over our lives?

LORD is someone or a deity who has authority, power and control over another person (Wikipedia.com). Anytime the word LORD is used in the Bible to refer to Jesus or God, it carries the notion that Jesus has complete authority over us.

In addressing the multitude in His days, Jesus asked them a very important question as recorded in Luke 6:46. Same question applies to us today.We all address Jesus as Lord, but do we obey His instructions as recorded in the Bible?

Jesus can't be our LORD, if we don't obey His commands. For Jesus to be our LORD, we must surrender our lives totally to Him and obey His word. May God help us to live in total obedience to His word. Amen

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: DRAW CLOSER TO GOD
SCRIPTURE: JAMES 4:8
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

Getting closer to God isn't automatic. It is not something we can only wish for. It demands a lot of work and commitment. Are you ready to work hard to get closer to God? Let's look at 4 things we must do to get closer to God

1. PURIFICATION
To draw closer to God, we must surrender our lives totally to Jesus Christ. We must also allow the Lord to purify us from every sin. We must genuinely repent from every sin and be consecrated for God.

2. HAVE A PRAYER LIFE
You certainly cannot get closer to God if you don't read your Bible and pray consistently. You must have a consistent prayer life. You cannot draw closer to God if you only read your Bible once in a while. This must change.

3. PUT GOD FIRST
Pleasing God must be your greatest priority. Put God first in your life. Nothing should be more important than God to you. God first.

4. AVOID SINFUL RELATIONSHIPS
This is very important. Any relationship which doesn't draw you closer to God must be avoided. A sinful relationship is any relationship which pushes you to sin. This kind of relationships must be avoided at all cost if you want to get closer to God.

May God help us to draw closer to Him. Amen.

COMPASSION
SCRIPTURE: JOHN 11:35
"Jesus wept".

John 11:35 has the shortest verse in the Bible.Lazarus, Jesus's friend was dead. Jesus actually knew Lazarus was dead before He got there. Jesus knew His death was to glorify God. Jesus was there to resurrect Lazarus. So what made Jesus weep?

One thing that brought tears into the eyes of the Lord was the suffering and pain of those who were mourning Lazarus. So even though Jesus knew Lazarus was going to be resurrected shortly, Jesus still had compassion for the pains of the mourners.

God is a compassionate God. Love is the nature of God. God doesn't turn a blind eye to the suffering of His children. There are many times in the Bible that Jesus had compassion on the afflictions of the people. God cares.

One of the things we must learn from our Lord is compassion. We must be compassionate about the suffering of others. We must genuinely show love to others. We must genuinely be kind to others. We must help others who are in need if we are in the position to do so.

It doesn't cost much to help others. But one little act of kindness can change someone's life. We all have the poor, the needy and the helpless around us. As Christians, how often do we extend a hand of kindness towards these people?

Christianity isn't only about spirituality, it is also about love, kindness and compassion. There is no Christianity without love. Let's be selfless. Let's show love to others. Let's be kind to others. Let's have compassion for those who are in need. Let's always be ready to help others. This is what Christianity is about.

BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

IN THE HANDS OF THE POTTER
"He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel." JEREMIAH 18:3

One day, the Lord told Prophet Jeremiah to go to the house of the Potter. In the Potter's House, Jeremiah saw the Potter working on a vessel of clay, at a point, the vessel got spoilt but the Potter still turned the spoilt vessel into another vessel. What are the lessons for us?

1. OUR LIVES ARE IN THE HANDS OF GOD
Isaiah 64:8: "But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand."
The foremost message God has for us from this short story is that our lives are in His Hands. We are the clay, God is our Potter. Our lives belong to God. We don't own ourselves, we belong to God.

2. GOD DOESN'T GIVE UP ON US
Even when we are in the Hands of God, our lives can take a negative turn mostly due to our own mistakes and choices. Even when we go wayward, God doesn't give up on us. God still continues to work to make a better vessels from our lives.

Our mistakes don't drive God away. That is how merciful He is. His love never fails. Irrespective of whatever has gone wrong in your life, remember, God can still turn things around for you.

3. GOD EXPECTS SUBMISSIVES
A clay doesn't determine what the Potter does with it. If our lives belong to God then God expects us to submit to His Will and walk in obedience before Him. We must submit to the authority of God for our lives.

Child of God, be rest assured that your life is in the Hands of God. Even if things go wrong, trust God to still bring out the best of you and guide you to your destination. Don't worry about the negative things going on around you, only trust God, submit to Him and depend on Him totally. God bless you.

THROUGH CHRIST
SCRIPTURE; PHILIPPIANS 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippian church made a declaration which we can all learn from today. The Apostle declared the Lord to be the source of his strength.

In our individual lives, there are lot of things we would like to achieve. We have dreams and ambitions. However, we become discouraged when we consider the challenges that lie in our path.

In our scripture for today, the Word of God is telling us that we can achieve all that we want to achieve if we depend on the Lord. Our efforts alone won't get us far. Our strength comes from the Lord.

Our marriages, businesses, spiritual life will all work when we depend on God to strengthen us. Without Jesus, we can do nothing.

The goals we set for ourselves will become impossible to achieve if we depend on our own strength. We cannot overcome sinful temptations if we depend on our own strength.

Today, I want to urge you to depend on the Lord for your strength. You can overcome the challenges you are facing now if you depend on the Lord. You can achieve your goals in life if you depend on the Lord.

May the Lord give us the strength and the Grace to go far in this life. Amen.

MAKE CHRIST YOUR ANCHOR

SCRIPTURE: PSALM 16:8
"I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken."

As much as none of us anticipate evil befalling us, the truth is, life won't always be smooth. There will be hard times. Very difficult moments.

There is nothing much we can do to avoid afflictions befalling us but there is something we can do to make sure that the afflictions don't sink us, we need to make Christ the anchor of our lives.

An anchor is a metallic object normally attached to a boat/ship and lowered into the water to keep the boat secured and steadfast.

When the the storms of life rise against us, we will need an anchor to keep us secured. There is no better anchor than Jesus Christ. It will be futile to make man our anchor in life. Men can disappoint us.

Christ being your anchor doesn't mean the storms won't come, but when they come, He will be there to save us.

Today, decide to make Jesus the anchor of your life. Decide to build a strong personal relationship with Jesus. Spend time with Him everyday in prayers. Obey His word. Depend on Him.

Life isn't easy. But you can be sure that Jesus will always be there for you if you make Him the anchor of your life. God bless and keep you. Shalom!

GOD EXISTS

SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 11:6
_"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."_

Yesterday, we looked at the first part of this scripture which talks about faith in God. Today, we look at the second part.

We cannot have a fruitful walk with God if we don't believe that He exists. There are so many theories and assertions trying to disprove the existence of God. We must however believe beyond all doubts that God truly exists.

God's existence doesn't depend on how we feel or think about Him. God exists independent of human feelings. God is certainly not dead.

God is a Spirit. To believe He exists is a matter of faith. We must come to the point where our believe in God is unshakable. Irrespective of the situation, we must believe God exists and He is with us.

God is not dead. He is alive and He will guide us to our expected end if we remain in Him. May you continue to have faith in God.

HAVE FAITH
SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 11:6A
"And without faith it is impossible to please God.."

The Christian life is a walk of faith. If we desire to walk with God closely this year and beyond, one of the foremost things we must do is to have total faith in Him.

To have faith in God is to believe in Him regardless of the situation. We must not only believe in God when it is convenient to do so. We must believe in Him at all times.

Admittedly, it is sometimes quite difficult to believe especially when you have prayed and prayed but there seems to be no answer. Even in the silence of God, we must believe that He is always with us.

Have faith and don't doubt. Don't let temporary emotions or feelings break your faith. Believe in God. There is nothing He can't do for you. Just have faith. Without faith, it is totally impossible to walk with God.

Irrespective of the situation, have faith in God. Even when it looks like there is no hope, have faith in God. May God help us. Amen
