Pope Leo is not just reminding us of the Laudato Si’ week but about the Jubilee Year of St Francis. We are ecological beings and we must take the Care for our Creation seriously.

It was a wonderful journey and you all made it possible.Thank you πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

This prayer is widely associated to the teachings, spirit of humility, compassion and service of Saint Francis of Assisi.
In practical terms, it encourages us to:
1. Live more simple and sustainable lives
2. Protecting biodiversity and natural resources
3. To Act always with compassion toward all living beings, and
4. To Work for justice, since environmental harm often affects the poorest most.

The Peace Prayer is not just about inner peace or human relationships today, but a powerful manifesto for environmental stewardship, urging each person to become a source of healing for Our Common Home.

St. Francis of Assisi was a man of great example. We join Pope Leo XIV and the entire Church in celebrating him in a special way, praying that we may become like him and make a difference through our care for creation and for one another.

Saint Francis of Assisi saw care for creation and love for others not as optional, but as essential expressions of faith. In that same way, we too are reminded that being β€œsmall” doesn’t limit our impact, but with humility, compassion and responsibility we are powerful in God’s eyes to impact others and the world Positively.

The whole concept of Environmental sustainability is the fact that human well-being depends on maintaining the health of Earth’s ecosystems.
When we damage the environment through pollution, deforestation or overuse of the resources, the consequences come back to us, inflicting us with poorer health, climate disruptions and loss of livelihoods.
It also echoes the Ethical concept of Intergenerational Responsibility, meaning we have a duty to leave the world livable for those who come after us.
We are being reminded today that we are not separate from the Earth but part of it., and taking care of it is really taking care of ourselves, both now and in the future.

Pope Francis is saying that we cannot truly care for the environment without also caring for people and having strong moral or spiritual values.

Pope Francis is pushing against this idea:
β€œIf I just live a green lifestyle, I have done my part.”
Instead, he is saying:
Real environmental care = ecology + justice + community + deeper values

Pope Francis is calling on us to Care for the Earth (Creation) by:
1. Reducing waste: Carry a reusable bottle, bag, and containers
2. Be mindful of energy consumption: Turn off lights, unplug devices, limit AC use
3. Eat more responsibly:Try a few plant-based meals each week
4. Avoid over consumption: Buy only what you truly need
5. Respect nature: Do not litter, but plant or nurture something (even a small plant).

And to also Care for One Another by:
1. Practicing kindness daily: Saying kind words, listening πŸ‘‚ or helping someone
2. Check on others: Especially the elderly, sick or struggling.

The event highlighted ongoing initiatives focused on transforming waste into useful items that benefit our communities.

A vibrant procession took place from Agbogbloshie to the Holy Spirit Cathedral, with participants carrying placards and sharing powerful environmental and ecological messages along the route.
Together, we continue to advocate for a cleaner, healthier environment for all. πŸ’š

As we celebrate the Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the environment, it is fitting to reflect on the quote often attributed to him: β€œDo few things but do them well.”
In these words, he calls us to a life of simplicity, focus and devotion, whether in our spiritual journey, our work, or our service to others.

In the context of caring for our environment, this message is especially meaningful. Small, intentional acts such as avoiding littering, conserving water and electricity, showing kindness to the poor, and respecting all living creatures and plants become powerful expressions of stewardship.
When combined with our practices of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving, these simple yet purposeful actions reflect a life lived with care, responsibility, and reverence for creation.
