Theme: The second coming of Jesus Chirst
Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 4: 15-17
2Thessalonians 2:1-12
The second coming of Christ will happen in two phases; the first phase being rapture
Rapture Latin word 'Rapio' and Greek 'Harpadzo'
Rapture is the catching up of saints both the living and the dead.
The dead will resurrect first and the living will be translated and both together will be captured in the air
Only the righteous ones will be resurrected; the unbeliever will remain in Hades until the final judgement
Within a twinkle of eye we shall be translated into an incorruptible body
Events following rapture:
1. Seven years of great tribulation: the antichrist will be revealed, the lawless one, and will cause destruction
2. In heaven there is going to be the judgement of the saints,the raptured saints(in theology is called the Bema judgement). This judgement brings no condemnation rather the works of the believers will be judged and rewards given. 2 corinthians 5:10
We must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ
Colossians 3: 23- 25
3. The last is the marriage feats of the Lord
Rev 19 : 9- 10
*There will be great distress, chaos , torture on those who will refuse the mark.
All the above mentioned constitutes the rapture phase.
The second phase is the appearing of Jesus Christ where we will all see Him,with the raptured saints and angels coming down to establish the millennium reign and Satan will be bound in chains.
