SEEK GOD FIRST — NOT LAST
Seeking God first is not a religious phrase; it’s a biblical order. Scripture consistently shows that when God is placed first, everything else finds its proper place. Trouble begins not because God is absent, but because He is often consulted last instead of first.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

God does not ask for leftovers. He asks for priority.

SEEK GOD FIRST IN TEMPTATION

Temptation is not removed by willpower, but by God’s provision.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful… and will with the temptation also make a way to escape.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)

Seeking God first in temptation means trusting His faithfulness instead of relying on personal strength. The way out is provided by God, not discovered by effort.

SEEK GOD FIRST IN DOUBT

Doubt clouds judgment, but Scripture calls us to trust, not lean.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

When doubt arises, seeking God first means surrendering the need to fully understand before obeying. God directs paths that are submitted to Him.

SEEK GOD FIRST IN TRIALS

Trials are not signs of abandonment; they are places where God offers wisdom.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him.”
James 1:5 (KJV)

God does not always remove the trial, but He supplies wisdom to walk through it rightly.

SEEK GOD FIRST IN WAITING

Waiting tests faith more than action does.

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart.”
Psalm 27:14 (KJV)

Seeking God first in waiting means trusting His timing instead of forcing outcomes. Strength is promised to those who wait on Him, not rush ahead of Him.

SEEK GOD FIRST IN DECISIONS

Important decisions require more than logic — they require divine insight.

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)

Acknowledging God first keeps decisions from being ruled by fear, pressure, or impulse.

SEEK GOD FIRST IN BATTLES

Some battles are not meant to be fought with human strength.

“The battle is not yours, but God’s.”
2 Chronicles 20:15 (KJV)

Seeking God first in battles means recognizing that victory belongs to Him. Our role is obedience; His role is deliverance.

FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT
Seeking God first does not mean life will be easy — it means you will never face it alone.

“When you seek Him first, you’re never walking alone.”

God honors those who honor Him with first place, not last attention. 🙏

**The Three Tenses of Salvation:

God’s Saving Work from Beginning to End**

Key Theme

The Bible speaks of salvation in three tenses—past, present, and future—each revealing a different stage of God’s saving work. Confusing these tenses leads to doctrinal error; understanding them produces faithful obedience and enduring hope.

INTRODUCTION

Many assume salvation is a single moment that secures eternity regardless of how one lives afterward. Scripture, however, presents salvation as initiated, maintained, and finally received. God’s grace provides salvation, but man must respond to that grace according to God’s revealed will.

The question is not whether salvation is by grace—it is.
The question is how that grace operates across time.

I. SALVATION IN THE PAST — “WE HAVE BEEN SAVED”
A. The Meaning of Past Salvation

Past salvation refers to initial salvation—the moment when a sinner is forgiven, delivered from sin, and placed into Christ.

Scripture speaks plainly:

“By grace are ye saved through faith” (Ephesians 2:8)

“According to his mercy he saved us” (Titus 3:5)

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness” (Colossians 1:13)

This salvation addresses sins that were committed and marks the point where one enters a saved relationship with God.

B. The Conditions of Past Salvation

Grace does not eliminate obedience; it requires a response of faith.

The gospel pattern includes:

Hearing the word (Romans 10:17)

Believing in Christ (John 8:24)

Repenting of sins (Acts 2:38)

Confessing Christ (Romans 10:10)

Being baptized into Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 22:16)

At this point, one is truly saved—washed, justified, and sanctified (1 Corinthians 6:11).

C. An Important Clarification

Past salvation is real, but it is not final.

God’s people in Scripture were saved and yet warned:

“Take heed lest ye fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12)

“Ye are fallen from grace” (Galatians 5:4)

Past salvation places one on the path, not at the finish line.

II. SALVATION IN THE PRESENT — “WE ARE BEING SAVED”
A. The Meaning of Present Salvation

Present salvation refers to ongoing spiritual preservation—the saved person continuing faithfully in Christ.

Scripture describes salvation as something continuing:

“Unto us which are saved” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12)

“If we hold fast… unto the end” (Hebrews 3:6)

This salvation concerns remaining in Christ, not entering Him.

B. The Conditions of Present Salvation

Present salvation is maintained through faithful obedience, not perfection.

God requires:

Walking in the light (1 John 1:7)

Continuing in Christ’s teaching (John 8:31; 2 John 9)

Repentance and confession when sin occurs (1 John 1:9)

Obedience from the heart (Hebrews 5:9)

Faithfulness (Revelation 2:10)

The blood of Christ continues to cleanse, but only as one continues to walk with Him.

C. An Important Clarification

Grace does not excuse sin; it trains us to deny it (Romans 6:1–2).

A saved person can choose to:

Abide in Christ and live (John 15:4)

Or depart and be cut off (John 15:6)

Present salvation is conditional upon continuance.

III. SALVATION IN THE FUTURE — “WE SHALL BE SAVED”
A. The Meaning of Future Salvation

Future salvation refers to final salvation—deliverance at Christ’s return and entrance into eternal life.

Scripture consistently places this salvation ahead:

“Our salvation is nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11)

“Salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:5)

“He shall appear… unto salvation” (Hebrews 9:28)

No one receives final salvation before judgment.

B. The Conditions of Future Salvation

Final salvation is promised only to those who endure.

Scripture requires:

Enduring to the end (Matthew 24:13)

Faithfulness unto death (Revelation 2:10)

Doing the will of the Father (Matthew 7:21)

Being found in Christ at His coming (Philippians 3:9)

Rewards are given at Christ’s return, not at conversion (Revelation 22:12).

C. An Important Clarification

Judgment determines eternal destiny:

“We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10)

“After this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27)

Hope for final salvation rests on persevering faith, not past experience alone.

CONCLUSION: SALVATION MUST BE HELD FROM BEGINNING TO END

Salvation begins with obedient faith, continues through faithful living, and is completed through endurance. God is faithful at every stage—but man must remain faithful as well.

A person may:

Be genuinely saved in the past

Walk faithfully or unfaithfully in the present

And be rewarded or lost in the future

This is why Scripture warns believers, exhorts believers, and encourages believers—not to doubt God’s grace, but to remain in it.

“Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
(Revelation 2:10)

Final Appeal

Have you:

Obeyed the gospel?

Continued in the faith?

Prepared to stand before Christ?

Salvation is not merely something we received—it is something we must hold fast until the end.

“He that endureth to the end shall be saved.”
Amen.

The church was called to be Christ-centered, mission-driven, and spiritually grounded — but in many places today, the focus has shifted. Instead of pursuing God’s eternal purpose, many churches are now guided by popularity, competition, personality titles, and institutional survival, rather than the equipping of the saints and the fulfilling of Christ’s mandate.

• 𝙄𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 discipleship to membership

Many ministers are gifted — but misaligned. The function of the church has shifted from 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦 to

📖 𝗚𝗢𝗗’𝗦 𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗨𝗥𝗖𝗛 ✝️

According to Ephesians 4:11-13, Christ gave leaders to the church:

• 𝙏𝙤 equip the saints

• 𝙁𝙤𝙧 the work of ministry

• 𝙁𝙤𝙧 the edifying of the Body of Christ

Yet today, many churches have turned ministry into:

• Performance instead of formation

• Programs instead of transformation

• Events instead of growth

The result is a church that is busy — but not purposeful.

⚠️ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗦 𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦? 🧭

Many leaders walk in gifts — but outside their true function.

🌿 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗦 — 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧-𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗘 🙌

• 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚 discipleship

• 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙯𝙚 spiritual maturity

• 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙥 believers — not just leaders

• 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 the Body — not the brand

The church becomes purposeful again when:

✨ Christ becomes the center

✨ Believers are equipped

✨ Ministry returns to function

✨ Unity replaces competition

📝 𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬 💡

A gifted church without purpose becomes active — but ineffective.

A Christ-centered church becomes transformational.
