Be a Good Steward
By Bishop Charles Agyinasare
Acts 4:32 "And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.”
Whatever we have belongs to God, and we are entrusted with it. A steward is a manager of another's property, and we are stewards of all that God has given to us. One day we will all give an account of whatever we have: money, time, talents and relationships.
After God made man and placed him in the Garden of Eden, the first command He gave him was to “take care of the land and keep it”. When you consider this, you'll realise that our primary role on earth is to take care of whatever God has given us.
Three ways to be a good steward:
1. Be faithful in little
It’s not the amount you give but the sacrifice that you make. You don't need much before you become responsible. Luke 16:10 says, "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
2. Think of who owns everything
Do you really think you are the owner of anything at all? The Psalmist tells us Who the Owner really is in Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.”
3. Waste nothing of His
When Jesus fed 5000 people, he asked His disciples to gather the left overs so that nothing would be lost. When we have in abundance, we tend to waste it because we think there will always be enough at our disposal (John 6:12).
Precious one, don’t you want to hear Jesus say someday, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master” (Matthew 25:23)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me the spirit of stewardship that I may not waste whatever You have entrusted in my hands in Jesus’ name, Amen.
