Crucifixion before crucifixion!
This morning, I'm thinking about what happened before Jesus was crucified. I have observed that He suffered emotionally before his physical pain began. In order words, He was crucified emotionally even before his physical crucifixion!
I'm reading from Matthew 26:26, where Jesus:
1. Had dinner with his disciples, they were more than friends to Him, they were His family!
2. Gave them bread and wine to share, saying it represented his body and blood for a powerful, new and a better Testament. This makes the new testament very powerful, isnt it? Blood and body was sacrificed for it! Don't underestimate the power of the new testament!
3. They sang hymns together.
4. His disciples promised never to leave him, even if it meant dying with him. But, you know, sometimes people promise things they can't do.
5. Jesus asked his three closest friends to pray with him, but they kept falling asleep. So, he had to deal with his worries alone. It's sad they couldn't be there for him when he needed them.
6. It's like picturing each friend saying, "I'll stick with you, I won't leave you!" Then, they all ended up leaving him. Quite a contrast, isn't it?
From this, I see that people often can't keep their promises, no matter how sincere they seem. But, we can find hope and comfort in God, even when others let us down. God is always reliable! Happy Easter to you!
