SAME KIND
1st August, 2020
READ: Revelation 13:1-12

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth…
Revelation 13:11, NASB

The Greek word allos means “another of the same kind”. This word is used to describe something or someone who is different but similar. A son must become an allos because it will help him to recognize the principle of allos in many other areas of ministry.
When you understand the principle of allos you understand that it is at work in many areas of life and ministry. Just as you are another of the same kind, you will recognize that many things are just one of a kind.
Dear friend, there is nothing special about you. There is nothing special about the problems you encounter in ministry. Someone has experienced it before and you are just the next one to discover it.
In the book of Revelation, John saw a terrible beast (problem) rising out of the sea. He was amazed at the strange and frightening appearance of this beast: Revelation 13:1-2.
But this was not the end. He suddenly saw an allos! Another of the same kind! The Scripture describes how he saw another beast of the same kind emerging from beneath the ocean.
“And I beheld another (allos) beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon” (Revelation 13:11).
It is important to recognize problems of a similar nature when they arise. This will help you to calmly deal with the problems.

FAVOURITES
30th July, 2020
READ: Romans 9:10-26

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
Genesis 37:3

It may seem silly or even trivial to want to be your boss’ favourite but it is wise to want to be the most important person’s favourite. The most important person is the one who re- ally matters. You will please someone with what you do so why not choose to please the most important person? Who is it that will pay you? Who is it that will feed you? Who is it whose decisions will change your life? Who will promote you? Why not decide to impress that important person!
The world does not only function according to principles but also according to “favour”. Favour is when good things are done to you for no apparent reason. Favour is when honour and blessings are bestowed on you even though you do not deserve them.
Somehow, you must develop the art of becoming a favourite whilst being genuine and unpretentious. I am not talking about being obsequious! I am not talking about becoming a sycophant! I am not talking about getting ahead through flattery, deception or boot licking.
Even in the army, you can only rise up to a certain level through promotional exams. The really high ranks are attained by what they call “political appointments”. These so called “political appointments” are based on people liking and choosing you. In a government, the president chooses whom he wishes and whom he likes to certain positions. There is often no formula to his choices. The “favourites” are often given key jobs in key positions.

WORK HARD!
29th July, 2020
READ: Colossians 1:21-29

…but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
1 Corinthians 15:10

Everyone must realize that doing the work of the ministry involves spending a lot of energy. Do not be surprised if you get tired doing the work of a pastor. It is only a sign that you are working well. Most good jobs leave their employees exhausted.
Do not be surprised if the ministry leaves you tired and worn out. Another thing that you will expend is money. Does it not cost you money to go to work everyday? Do you not spend money at work for lunch everyday?
It is the same thing with the work of ministry. Why should you complain if you have to pay money to travel to wait on the Lord? Why should you complain if you have to spend money buying books and CDs that you need?
Make no mistake about it. Waiting on God, catching the anointing and revelation by the guidance of the Spirit is hard work. Praying, visiting, counselling and interacting with people is hard work.
Work hard by expending your energy and money on the church.
“But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me” ( 1 Corinthians 15:10, Amplified Bible).

READ: Genesis 40

Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
Genesis 40:23

One reason why people forget is simply the passage of time. When the chief butler was in prison, he was helped greatly by Joseph. But he forgot Joseph when he was released. Even though he had had a terrible experience in prison, he sim- ply forgot about Joseph.
I have watched how people forget where they came from. As the years have gone by, they need to be re- minded of their beginnings. At different times, the Lord used me to start different fellowships, groups and churches. Sometimes I would hand over the group to a leader and leave them for some time. Invariably, they forgot me. They forgot how they began and they forgot about me. With the passage of time, they did not even want my involvement anymore.
I remember one particular group I started and allowed to run for some time. Later on, I came back to them and explained that I wanted to take up the leadership of the group again. After a series of discussions, I sensed that my leadership was not welcome anymore so I abandoned the idea. I reflected on the turn of events. As I thought over the situation, I considered how people easily forget where they come from.
But such is the lot of a founder. He must be prepared to be forgotten and set aside. This is the reason why people hold on to leadership positions until they die. They fear to hand over their prized vision to men who forget. The butler forgot Joseph. Many people forget those who have been real spiritual blessings to them.

WRONG LOVE
24th July, 2020
READ: Joshua 11:9-23

There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
Joshua 11:22

Showing compassion to people is a common alternative to obeying God. No one is wiser than God and no one is more compassionate than God.
There are many people who engage in different acts of compassion and feel that these deeds are a good substitute for obeying God. Instead of doing exactly what God says they find something impressive and compassionate to do. Instead of paying tithes you will find people giving their money to poor people or to the sick.
Joshua showed compassion to the cities of Gaza, Gath and Ashdod. He did not kill all the Philistines there but left them alive in direct disobedience to God’s clear instructions. Many years later, the disobedience bore fruit. These three cities, which were not wiped out by Joshua, produced the bitterest enemies of the children of Israel. Gath produced Goliath who fought against Israel. (1 Samuel 17:4). Gaza produced the harlot that destroyed Sam- son. (Judges 16:1). Ashdod was the city which captured the ark of God and put it in the temple of Dagon. “(1Samuel 5:2).
Make sure you are not kinder than God. Make sure that you are not more compassionate than God Himself. Make sure that you are not more loving than Jesus. There is something wrong with your love and compassion when a sinful person like you is praised as being kinder than God!

ONLY HOPE
23rd July, 2020
READ: Luke 10:25-37

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Matthew 9:36

I am certain that forgetfulness leads to a lack of passion for the Great Commission. Most Christians know many biblical phrases and verses that were unknown to the Christian before the advent of the printing press.
The story of the Good Samaritan illustrates this reality. Levites and priests passed by, filled with the knowledge of God. But they did not have compassion. When the man with compassion came by, he was moved and saved the brother who was half-dead. This world is half- dead, waiting for us to come and save them. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ, the only hope of this world.
The modern inventions of television, radio, cassettes, CDs and the internet have made Scripture more available than ever before. Sadly, the increase of Scripture and the availability of this knowledge are not combined with renewed compassion for souls. The compassion for souls is almost absent whilst the love for treasures and finances is at its peak.
The sad reality is that the salvation of this world can never be accomplished without compassion. But how can we have compassion when we do not remember what it is like to almost go to Hell?

TONGUES
22nd July, 2020
READ: 1 Corinthians 14:12-21

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:4

Develop the art of waiting on God by praying in tongues whilst you read the Bible and other ministry books.
“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful” (1 Corinthians 14:14).
Because I pray in tongues for long periods, my mind is unfruitful and free for reading. I constantly read whilst I spend hours in prayer. My spirit prays to the Lord while my mind concentrates on the Bible that I am reading. This helps me to pray for even longer hours.
As you pray in tongues for hours, your spirit man will be edified and charged up.
For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation. One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church.
1 Corinthians 14:2-4, NASB
But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit,
Jude 20-21, The Message.
