THOUGHTFUL LESSONS FROM THE CHARISMA LADIES CONFERENCE 2026
πΈ - Under the auspices of Rev. Dr Steve and Rev. Mrs Jane Mensah of Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry
Moments from the sermon on Hospitality under the theme βWomen of Excellence.β β¨
Delivered by: Episcopal Lady Adelaide Heward Mills, First Lady, Lighthouse Denomination of Churches
Topic: Anticipate a Need by the Leading of the Holy Spirit
Dear Beloved in Christ,
One important lesson from the Charisma Ladies Conference is the need to anticipate others' needs through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
As Christians, we must develop spiritual sensitivity, genuine compassion and a willingness to serve, even before someone asks for help.
1. Anticipate Needs Before They Are Expressed
We should not always wait for people to ask for assistance before we act. Like Abraham in Genesis 18:1β15, we must learn to recognise opportunities to demonstrate kindness and hospitality.
Abraham welcomed three visitors, provided food and water, and attended to their needs. His hospitality became part of a remarkable encounter with God's promise.
Lesson: Be observant, compassionate and ready to help whenever the opportunity arises.
2. Hospitality Creates Opportunities for Divine Encounters
Abraham's experience reminds us that welcoming and caring for others can become an opportunity for God to work in their lives.
Hebrews 13:2 encourages us not to neglect hospitality to strangers, because some have entertained angels without knowing it.
Lesson: Let us treat everyone with kindness and respect, without expecting anything in return. We never know how God may use our simple acts of service.
3. Be Sensitive to the Leading of the Holy Spirit
As believers, we must develop the spiritual sensitivity to recognise when someone needs encouragement, prayer, practical assistance or simply a listening ear.
We should allow the Holy Spirit to direct our actions and help us respond appropriately to the needs around us.
Lesson: Spiritual maturity is demonstrated not only through prayer and biblical knowledge, but also through our willingness to obey the Holy Spirit and serve others.
4. Demonstrate Hospitality Through Practical Actions
Let us put this lesson into practice through our daily conduct and relationships.
* Welcome visitors and make them feel at home in God's presence.
* Pay attention to the needs of fellow members and those around us.
* Offer practical support without waiting to be asked.
* Show generosity and kindness without expecting a reward.
* Make time to encourage, visit and pray for those who need support.
5. A Challenge to the Body of Christ
As a church family, let us cultivate a culture of love, compassion, hospitality and service. May we become more attentive to the needs of our fellow believers and the wider community.
Let us not restrict our service to church programmes alone, but demonstrate Christ's love through our everyday actions.
May the Holy Spirit guide us to recognise needs and respond with wisdom, generosity and genuine concern.
KEY TAKEAWAY
Anticipate the need. Discern the leading of the Holy Spirit. Respond with practical love.
May we be stewards in a church where people experience the love of Christ through our hospitality, generosity and service.
