In this passage, the disciples finally declare that they now believe Jesus came from God. Yet Jesus, knowing what lay ahead, tells them that a time was coming when they would be scattered and leave Him alone. Even so, He was never truly alone because the Father was with Him.

Jesus then gives one of the greatest promises in Scripture: โ€œIn the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.โ€ Christ does not promise a life free from trouble, but He assures us of His victory. Because Jesus overcame the world through His death and resurrection, believers can walk in peace even in difficult seasons.

True peace is not the absence of problems, but the presence of Jesus in the midst of them.

Believers will face trials, but we are not abandoned because the Lord is with us.

In this passage, Jesus lifts His eyes to heaven and prays to the Father before His suffering and crucifixion. He speaks of the glory given to Him and declares that eternal life is found in knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. Jesus had completed the work the Father gave Him and now prays for His disciples who would remain in the world.

This prayer reveals Christโ€™s deep love and intercession for His followers. Even before the cross, Jesus was concerned about those entrusted to Him. He reminds us that our lives are meant to glorify God and that true life is found in relationship with Him.

This passage shows Israel in the wilderness, impatient and complaining against God and Moses. Because of their sin, venomous snakes came among them and many died. But when the people repented, God provided a way of healing. Moses lifted up a bronze serpent on a pole, and everyone who looked at it in faith lived.

It was not the bronze serpent that healed them, but obedience and faith in Godโ€™s word. Jesus later used this story to point to Himself. Just as the Israelites looked to the lifted serpent, we too must look to Christ lifted on the cross for salvation, healing, and eternal life.

Christโ€™s Ascension reminds us that Jesus reigns in glory and continues to guide His people with power and love. Though He ascended into heaven, His presence remains with us through the Holy Spirit.
This holy day encourages us to lift our hearts above fear, walk in faith, and live with purpose as witnesses of His grace.
May the Ascension of Christ renew our hope, strengthen our faith, and inspire us to seek heavenly things while serving faithfully here on earth.
