Jesus Christ taught His doctrine so we may know how to follow Him!

Soon after His appearance to the people of The Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ, He taught them how to follow Him. How they could take His name upon themselves to be saved. He taught:

"Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, I will declare unto you my doctrine.

And this is my doctrine, and it is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me; and I bear record of the Father, and the Father beareth record of me, and the Holy Ghost beareth record of the Father and me; and I bear record that the Father commandeth all men, everywhere, to repent and believe in me.

And whoso believeth in me, and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God."
~3 Nephi 11:31-33 (The Book of Mormon)

Jesus Christ teaches people of the Americas and calls the prophet Nephi and other disciples by name, giving them power to baptize those who repent and believe in Him.

Jesus Christ appeared to other nations after His resurrection.

In The Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ visited the people after His death and resurrection. Just as all the prophets in The Book of Mormon had prophesied, He came to Minister and teach these people. He came to bring peace and joy. He said:

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."
~3 Nephi 11:10-11 (The Book of Mormon)

The people of Ancient America come to Bountiful and gather. They hear the voice of God the Father introduce His Son. They witness Jesus descending from heaven and testify He is the Savior of the world.

The Book of Mormon shows us God's love.

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is a record of God's dealings with a great civilization that lived on the American continent. In the Book of Mormon, many different prophets teach on several topics, but they all testify of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Jesus Christ even visited the people in the Book of Mormon after He was resurrected. He showed them the nail prints from His crucifixion and taught them His gospel. The Book of Mormon is a sign that God loves us and wants us to learn more about His Son, Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful gift of truth and knowledge, and it brings peace into our lives.

"[The Lord] doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.

Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; but he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price."
- The Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 26: 24–25

God revealed the Book of Mormon to the prophet Joseph Smith.

One night when Joseph Smith was praying in his room, an angel appeared to him. The angel's name was Moroni, and he told Joseph that God had a work for him to do. Moroni showed Joseph Smith where there was an ancient book of scripture buried underground, which would teach Joseph the fullness of the gospel. Joseph took this book out of the ground, and by the power of God he translated it into English. This book is called the Book of Mormon—Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and you can read it today! It teaches us the gospel and shows us that Joseph Smith was a true prophet.

"And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good."
- The Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 33:10

God restored His priesthood to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith was called to restore the church of Jesus Christ. He didn't know how to baptize, so he asked God in prayer. God sent John the Baptist as an angel from heaven to give Joseph Smith the authority to baptize. This authority is called the priesthood. God later sent Peter, James, and John—three of the New Testament apostles—to give Joseph the higher priesthood with the authority to give the gift of the Holy Ghost and preside over the church. God gives His power to His prophets. Because of Joseph Smith, we can be baptized by God's authority into the church of Jesus Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus Christ restored his church by calling a prophet named Joseph Smith.

The church that Jesus Christ established fell away, and for many years people were confused about the gospel (Amos 8:11–12). Many different churches were built, but none of them had authority from God. Eventually, God called a prophet named Joseph Smith to restore His church. He gave Joseph Smith authority to lead His church and be His prophet. He directed Joseph to call twelve apostles, to teach the gospel to everyone, and to baptize people who believed in Him. He told Joseph to call His church "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." It was built just like Jesus' church in the New Testament and was led by prophets and apostles (Ephesians 2:19–20). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Jesus Christ's church restored to the earth.

The prophet Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith was a boy who lived 200 years ago. He wanted to join the church of Jesus Christ. There were many churches in his hometown, but none of them were Christ's church. Joseph was confused, so he prayed to God for help. God and His Son, Jesus, appeared to him in a vision. This is how Joseph described his vision:

I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. ... When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

The church that Jesus Christ established fell into apostasy.

Apostasy is when a person or a group of people turn away from God and ignore or change His teachings. After Jesus was resurrected, people began to reject and kill his apostles. This led to a widespread apostasy, where people changed the gospel that Jesus taught. They took away many teachings and truths and added their own doctrines. Paul and the other apostles knew there would be an apostasy (2 Thes. 2:1–3). This was also predicted in the Book of Mormon:

"For behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away.
And ... because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, ... an exceedingly great many do stumble."
- The Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13:26, 29
