THE PRAYER CALL WITH PASTOR JACOB OPATA
12th January 2026
Scripture: Colossians 2:6
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.”
Topic: Established in Christ
Exhortation
Colossians was written by the Apostle Paul to a young church facing confusion from false teachings that threatened to dilute the simplicity of the gospel. In the midst of these challenges, Paul reminded believers of their firm foundation in Christ. To be established in Christ, according to Paul, means to live with a deep awareness that our identity, strength, and purpose are rooted in Him.
Receiving Christ, therefore, is not only a moment in time but a daily experience. As we walk in Him, our lives reflect Christ's stability, wisdom, and maturity. Our Christlikeness grows as we allow His life to shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. The world may pull us toward compromise, yet being established in Christ anchors us in God’s unshakable truth.
Spiritual establishment, in this sense, is both positional and practical. Positionally, we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Practically, we express it in obedience, prayer, and a consistent pursuit of God’s Word. Believers who are grounded in Christ, as a result, will be able to navigate trials, resist deception, and shine as testimonies of God’s grace.
Therefore, Christlikeness requires deliberate focus on Him. It is a daily choice we make to walk by faith and not by sight, to embrace His Word, and to allow His Spirit to guide every step. As we abide in Him, our lives bear the fruit of stability, peace, and maturity. Amen.
DECLARATION
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for establishing me in Christ. I am rooted and grounded in His love and Word. By Your Spirit, I walk daily in obedience, guided by Your truth and strengthened for every challenge. I reject instability, compromise, and deception. I embrace the fullness of my identity in Christ, allowing Him to shape my character, my decisions, and my life. I declare that I will stand firm, grow in maturity, and bear lasting fruit for Your glory. In the name of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
