Online event: and Reflect on Unity and Diversity for the Mission of the Church

You are warmly invited to join us online for this event organised by the Joint International Commission for Dialogue between the World Methodist Council, the Roman Catholic Church (MERCIC) and the Methodist Ecumenical Office Rome.

The international Methodist-Catholic dialogue will publish a new document "One in Faith and Ministry to the World" in September 2026 following its 12th round of theological dialogue. The document focuses on unity and diversity in the church and its implications for the mission of the church.

In this 90 minute program, the Rev. Dr. Edgardo Colon-Emeric, dean of Duke Divinity School in Durham, NC, USA, and the Most Rev. Shane Mackinlay, Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane, Australia, will present the new document and offer their personal reflections on unity and diversity for mission from Catholic and Methodist perspectives.

We stand in prayer with the United Methodist Church New England Conference following the unfortunate cyber theft incident involving approximately $1.6 million. We pray for wisdom and strength as they work with the FBI to investigate the matter and seek a resolution.

This situation is a reminder for Methodist conferences and churches across the World to remain vigilant and take greater care in protecting our financial and digital systems.

🇱🇷 UMC Africa College of Bishops Holds 2026 Meeting in Liberia

The United Methodist Church (UMC) Africa College of Bishops is currently holding its 2026 Africa College of Bishops Meeting in Liberia, under the auspices of the Liberia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.

The gathering brings together bishops and church leaders from across Africa for fellowship, prayer, dialogue, and strategic conversations focused on strengthening the Church’s mission and witness across the continent.

The meeting is being held under the theme:

AFRICA METHODIST COUNCIL AT THE METHODIST CHURCH OF ZIMBABWE CONFERENCE 🇿🇼

The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Annual Conference is taking place in Kadoma from 25–29 August 2026, bringing together church leaders and members for worship, fellowship, reflection, and important conversations about the future of the Church.

The Africa Methodist Council is represented by our General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Martin Mujinga, who is participating in the Conference and engaging with the Methodist family in Zimbabwe.

The General Secretary also took time to address the Conference, bringing fraternal greetings and sharing the expectations for the 3rd General Conference, which will be hosted in Harare in March 2027.

One of the beautiful moments has been seeing Tinashe, a visually impaired participant, reading the Bible in Braille during the Conference. It was a powerful reminder that the Word of God is for everyone and that the Church must continue creating spaces where everyone can fully participate.

We are grateful for this time of worship, fellowship, and shared mission.

World Methodist Council Meetings in San Salvador

The Africa Methodist Council is well represented at the ongoing World Methodist Council Meetings taking place in San Salvador, El Salvador, from August 13–17, 2026, under the theme:

“The Kingdom of God is Justice, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit” Romans 14:17.

Africa is represented by the President and General Secretary of the Africa Methodist Council, alongside delegates from The Methodist Church Nigeria, The Methodist Church The Gambia, and the Methodist Church of Southern Africa.

This gathering brings together Methodist and Wesleyan leaders from across the world for worship, fellowship, dialogue, governance, and reflection on the mission and witness of the Methodist family globally.

We are grateful for Africa’s contribution and presence at this important global Methodist gathering.

Grant Writing & Project Management Training

The Africa Methodist Council was represented at the Grant Writing and Project Management Training for the West Africa Region, held in Accra, Ghana. From the 10 to the 14 August 2026.

Representing the Council were Jonathan Umba Banza, Executive Communication Officer, and Mrs. Stella Ofori Akyeampong, Support Accountant to the AMC Finance Officer.

The training brought together Methodist leaders from across the West Africa Region and focused on strengthening skills in grant writing, project development, funding opportunities, and effective project management for sustainable ministry.

We thank God for a successful and enriching training experience, and we extend our sincere appreciation to the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) for making this opportunity possible.

Special thanks to Rev. Dr. Jean Claude Masuka Maleka, Rev. Caleb, and Rev. Collins A. Etchi for their teaching, guidance, and valuable contributions throughout the training.
