Today, in the gospel, Jesus speaks to us about the second coming, when he will judge the living and the dead in his glory (Lk. 17:20-35).
One of the most obvious fact of our world is that the Lord will come again. Sometimes because of the things that happen around us coupled with the delay of the Lordβs coming, we are tempted to believe there is no one coming.
That is what Paul tell us in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6. He makes us aware that the day of the Lord will surely come. When this day come, all of us will stand at the judgment seat and give account of our life.
When that day comes the judgments of God will operate, and of two people, who all their lives lived side by side, one will be taken and the other left (Lk. 17:34). This clearly shows that, on that day no man can deliver a brother.
Intimacy with a good person will not necessarily guarantee our own salvation. Sometimes we see a husband who leaves the duties of holiness to the wife and claims the holiness of the wife affects him also. We see people who boast about the holiness of their family members or friends thinking they may be saved by their works.
That is unfortunate because the judgment of God is an individual judgment. All of us will have to show God, individually, how much we acquired on the talent he gave us. Folk, if we are tempted to think the works of others will save us let us remember that often βone will be taken and another left.β
Think about it. God is enough. Peace. *ImNotAshamedOfTheGospel* Maxy
