Statement from the Ghana Hilāl (Crescent) Committee
All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all creation. May peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Today, Wednesday, 18th March 2026, marks the 28th day of Ramadan 1447 AH. Therefore, Thursday, 19th March 2026 (29th Ramadan), has been set aside for the observation of the Shawwāl crescent.
Should the new moon be sighted, Eid ul-Fiṭr will be celebrated on Friday, 20th March 2026, marking the beginning of Shawwāl 1447 AH.
If the crescent is not sighted, Ramadan will be completed as 30 days, and Eid ul-Fiṭr will instead fall on Saturday, 21st March 2026, which will then be the 1st of Shawwāl 1447 AH.
We pray that Allah accepts our fasting, prayers, and good deeds, and grants us the opportunity to celebrate Eid in peace, good health, and strong faith. Ameen.
