Take a look at this HoP update from Sophie and Richard!

Here is an update from House of Prayer leader Sophie Dearden and her husband Richard:

“As many of you will already know, this is a special week as it marks the final HoP meetings and final Tabernacle on Friday 1st March 2024 before I step down from leading York House of Prayer and Richard and I move on from The Belfrey Church.

The House of Prayer ministry and The Belfrey have been an extremely important part of both mine and Richard’s life and discipleship with Jesus. We have learned many valuable things over the 14+ years that we have been part of this fellowship and thank God for all He has done!

It has been with much prayer and seeking the voice of God that we have made this decision, and we know with certainty and expectancy that He is asking us to step into a new season and a new assignment at this time and so our desire is to be obedient to Him! We value your prayer support and any prophetic insight as we do this together. And do pray for the leadership of The Belfrey as they decide the way forward for the House of Prayer ministry.

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to lead the House of Prayer for the last 5 and a half years. The Lord has been so faithful, and we will treasure the countless testimonies and memories made during that time: of zealous freedom in worship, people released to hear the voice of God, those who have learned to seek the face of God and intercede powerfully, many prophets released into their calling, radical healings and deliverances, shifts in the spiritual atmosphere over York and we could go on… It has been the deepest honour to pray day and night for the church, the city, the region, and the nations over the last 10 years as part of the House of Prayer team. I will never forget all I have learned from so many of you prayerful people who have shown me what it is to be devoted to Jesus. We are so grateful for those of you who have journeyed with us, worshipped into the early hours with us, and shared in all the wonderful things the Lord has done through the HoP over the years – thank you!! And a special thanks to those who have been part of the core HoP team, what an extraordinary group of fiery people who have served diligently and at great personal cost, to honour and worship the King and fight in prayer for our churches and our city. They will always have an extremely special place in our hearts and will remain firm, lifelong friends.

We will still be living in York, so if you would like to stay in contact then please do and we can update you with what we’ll get up to next as the Lord leads us into this exciting new chapter! Richest blessings from our family to yours, in Jesus’ mighty name, all for His glory.”

** F R E E D O M I N W O R S H I P **

Powerful God-focused worship welcomes the Holy Spirit’s manifest presence to dwell among us, releases the arsenal of heaven into the atmosphere, brings in the harvest, binds the enemy, delivers, and heals people, the land, and the nations!

But so often we can get caught up in lies, shame, confusion, repetition, and we struggle to truly engage with God in worship. If you long to be released to encounter the Lord in worship, then come along to our FIRST ‘Awake! School of Worship and Prayer’ session on Friday 21st April at 7pm to learn what worship really is, and how to be a radically free and passionate worshipper like King David! There will be lots of space (into the early hours) for worship, prayer, ministry, and activation of all we've been learning about.

Join us at 7pm, Wednesday evenings, as we gather to pursue a heavenly worship, like that in Revelation 4 and 5. We’re asking the Spirit to lead us as we approach God; speaking in tongues, asking for revelation and intentionally interceding for what the Lord is doing in the city.

As Psalm 84 leads, come and start the week with us as we learn to seek His dwelling place, a place near the altar. Worshipping together in the courts of the Lord. Let us give glory to the living God and discover what it means to pour out from the true yearning deep within us; to connect with God in ever praising Him.

We’ve got some exciting new things on the horizon, as God is giving us a new rhythm at the House of Prayer, in line with the season that we’re in.

For now, there are 3 things we feel the Lord is leading us to explore, as we dig in this December.

1. The Altar. Monday mornings, 7am-9am. Early morning worship.
2. Harp and Bowl. Wednesday evenings, from 7pm. Tongues, intercession and worship.
3. Tabernacle. Saturday 17th December. Extended prayer and worship. Timings tbc.

Led by trained individuals, you will be given the space to connect to your emotions and the heart of God using paint. This is a group workshop and you will leave with 3 paintings carrying God’s truth! No art experience required.

We have such a special Friday evening coming up this week!

Join us for Tabernacle from 7pm until midnight (ish) on Friday 18th November. Simon and Dora Maria Rennie will be coming to teach, pray, and prophesy followed by extended worship and prayer into the evening. The Rennies have been anointed and worshipful leaders at York Community Church for a number of years, as well as being precious friends to us at York House of Prayer, and they now feel the Lord calling them abroad to Columbia at the end of this month (sob!). This will actually be their last ministry evening in York before they leave - what an honour!

You won't want to miss this - come along to enjoy the presence of Jesus, to learn how to have deeper intimacy in worship with Him, and to receive an impartation of more of the Spirit of God! See you there!

What's on this month at the House of Prayer?

The House of Prayer team have made the decision to close the HoP for the next few weeks; to seek the Lord and His plans and purposes for us going forward.

The Tabernacle originally planned for 28th October, has been postponed. The next Tabernacle will be on Friday 18th November, at the HoP, which will include teaching on praise and worship by Simon Rennie followed by extended worship and prayer!

We can't wait to share with you all the Lord has been saying, and we look forward to opening up again soon!

Tomorrow is almost here! We are looking forward to worshipping together again, and are so expectant for what the Lord will do...
