Today I met with Alison from One Voice York. We discussed how the Church in York can fulfill its Kingdom mandate.

…to mobilise the church to be a significant contributor to social transformation in the city of York.

There was real synergy in what we are exploring and experiencing. She has kindly offered to come and speak with church about what their research has turned up and how as believers can seek to address poverty across the city. Its a real call to action.

The people of God are not contained by their own walls? Or are we. Are we in survival mode or in a kingdom growth mode? Local covenants and LEPs. Thoughts? We are in a exciting exploration around various partnerships and what it means to be One church made up of many expressions. Having reviewed LEPs for a number of years I'm inclined to steer clear as they, in my experience are all too often are about gathering in one space yet retaining their own governance and structures. However I'm willing to explore what might be? With our own city wide remit and appointment we are in a fascinating space of piloting a different way of working within our own tradition. Do you have anything I can look at, read and hear about how you have gone beyond the walls of your known space and gone to the deeper places of intentional partnerships? Could you email me anything you have please. [email protected] My spirit says we are called into local covenant with others.

PENTECOST 2026
Wow, what a day! People were encouraged to come along in brightly coloured clothes and with a gorgeous sunny day we celebrated together. There is no doubt we experienced a powerful visit of the Holy Spirit upon us as a church. Such exciting and empowered times. One person said im trying to understand this morning. I cant remember the last time I could sense such peace and joy amongst us all. Major Andrew has the pleasure of making the first members of the church for a number of years and there are more to follow. Martin Gardner was made an adherent and his wife Jill Gardiner was sworn in as a soldier. Jills testimony was such an inspiration to all who heard, so much so that she has kindly agreed to share it here. .

My testimony today:
I stand here today grateful to God for his grace mercy and faithfulness throughout my life. Choosing to be a senior soldier again is a decision I have made with prayer reflection and a renewed commitment to serve God whole heartedly.
There was a time when my walk with God was not as strong as it should have been, but through every season his never gave up on me. He continues to guide me protect me and remind me of his love and purpose for my life. Over the last 18 months I have felt God calling me back into a deeper fellowship,worship and service within York Salvation Army.
Becoming a senior soldier again is not simply about wearing the uniform or holding a title. It is about publicly declaring my faith in Jesus and recommitting myself to live according to his will.
I want my life to reflect his love compassion and truth. I also want to be an example to others by serving faithfully tin my church, supporting the community and sharing the hope of the gospel.
I believe God has given me another opportunity to renew my covenant and continue growing spiritually. This second commitment means even more to me because it comes with greater understanding maturity and appreciation for Gods grace.
Today I recommit myself to prayer worship and service and obedience to God.
I thank my church family and also Martin and my children for their encouragement and support and I pray that God will continue to strengthen me as I walk forward in faith

Imagine!!! Can you? Do You?
We continue our training in the How we rebirth and grow Gods church across the city.

Imagine if....

Faith as small as a mustard see can move mountains. This Sunday, we will dream and imagine together. And yes there will be refreshments..... :)

Do you have any old lego hidden away in the cupboards and or loft?
Im am trying to create a resource bank for a future activity we are planning. I have a large box full but am wanting a lot more.

I know that I can purchase of various sites, but first thought I would ask if you have any hidden away? Im looking for the smaller original bricks, not the larger 'Duplo' style. Thanks so much.
