📣 Messy Church - The Holy Spirit
📅 Today - Saturday 16th May
🕓 4pm - 6pm
📍 Holgate Methodist Church, Acomb Road
👪 Suitable for all ages (no unaccompanied children please)
💷 Free - donations welcome, but by no means required

This afternoon, we'll be exploring the theme of 'Holy Spirit' - traditionally one of the hardest parts of the Christian faith to get your head around! Thinking about the Holy Spirit reminds us of the mystery of our faith - that we can't see or touch God but we believe he is real nonetheless. It's a chance to remember and perhaps experience the 'otherness' of God: we think of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit, yet they are all a part of the same God, just viewed in different ways.

So, we'll have some activities centred around things that you know happen, but cannot see: windmills, magnets, etc. We'll also be thinking about the flames and doves which are associated with the Holy Spirit including, of course, an edible activity and some Messy Painting! As usual, there'll also be a Calmer Zone.

Hope to see you there!

Tomorrow's Messy Church will be exploring Easter and, in particular, what happened on Good Friday. As always, we've got lots of fun things planned including food related activities (donut tombs), crafty things (hama beads, marbling eggs, Easter gardens) as well as a messy splatter painting. We'll also have quiet space which is centred around the Stations of the Cross.

Hope to see you there!

Please remember that we are open for our Christmas Day Service tomorrow at 10:30am. 🎄

All are welcome - whether you're coming alone or with family - to join us as we celebrate this special day!

It should be bit shorter than our usual hour longer service, so plenty of time to get back and tend to the turkey.

Children and the young-at-heart are encouraged to bring a present to show to everyone. Festive attire is most welcome - be it christmas jumpers, matching pyjamas, santa hats or something else!

This weekend features a double episode of festive fun for the community at Holgate Methodist Church!

Bring the family along on Saturday for a 4pm showing of a Disney twist of the Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol 🎄

Rejoin us on Sunday at 4pm again for our Carol Service - full of your favourite carols interspersed with the telling of the Christmas story ⭐

And then on Christmas Day itself, please do join us for a short family service at 10:30am, as we reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. Children and the young-at-heart are encouraged to bring a present to show too! 🎁
