Today Anika, on behalf of St. Luke's, received the traditional 'Billet' from the Lord Mayor. The command to 'Bring forth the Mystery Plays' is an ancient tradition dating back to Medieval times. This year St. Luke's will be performing Noah and the Flood on the 28th June and the 5th July.

On Saturday 30th May we took part in York Pride with Christians at Pride in York. We met in the Museum Gardens before moving on to St. Sampson’s Square and after changing positions several times we finally got started. The parade followed the usual route through town, over Ouse Bridge, along Skeldergate and up Bishopthorpe Road to the Knavesmire. The parade was really well attended and the crowds along the route were fantastic. Bishopthorpe Road laid on a wonderful welcome as always.
Christians at Pride in York had a stall on the Knavesmire and several members of St. Luke’s helped to manage the stall during the afternoon. Suzanne and Varya produced a wonderful piece of art based on 1 Peter 2:4-5 “Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight” and people were invited to add their name to the wall. We had many visitors throughout the afternoon and lots of great conversations.
Thank you to everybody who came along and helped, those who supported us and especially our vicar, Revd. Anika Gardiner, for being the main organiser for this event.

Can anyone help?
The fridge freezer in the church hall is not working properly.
A replacement is urgently needed. Luke’s Larder use the fridge each week.
Is anyone just about to replace their fridge or fridge freezer? Would you be willing to donate the old one? (in good working order of course)
Thank you!

York Pride Parade: Saturday 30th May 2026
If you are joining us for the Parade under the Christians at Pride in York banner, we are assembling as a group in the Museum Gardens at 10.45 – 11.00am. We’ll be just inside the Museum Street entrance on the left behind the lodge. Look out for the Christians at Pride in York banner. At 11.00am we’ll walk along Lendal and Davygate to our Parade assembly point in St Sampson’s Square, somewhere close to Brown’s Tea Rooms. If you’re unable to get to the Museum Gardens by 11.00am, join us in St Sampson’s Square, but no later than 11.30am. This is for us to ensure that we have the correct number of Marshals for the size of group. The Parade is due to set off at Noon.
Wear weather appropriate clothing and suitable footwear for a 2.2 mile walk through the streets of York and bring a water bottle. Dress in bright colours for the occasion! Our section of the Parade will probably reach The Knavesmire at about 1.15pm.
York Pride Festival: The Knavesmire
Christians at Pride in York will have a stall at the Festival. Feel free to visit our stall during the afternoon in amongst the 120+ market stall on the site, and enjoy the Festival where there will be a licensed bar, a funfair, a cabaret tent, main stage and plenty of food and drink available to buy.
