The Lord’s Prayer is prayed by millions of Christians around the world. The words may be familiar — but what do they mean for the way we live today?

Join the Archbishop of York and Faith in the North at St Martin's Middlesbrough on Friday 2 October for an evening of prayer, reflection, and inspiration on the prayer Jesus taught us.

Whether you’re part of a church, school, chaplaincy, or simply curious to learn more, you are warmly invited.

It was a real privilege to be welcomed by the community at St John’s, Rosmead Street, Hull, on Saturday for the launch of 'Walking with Angels' by Bishop Eleanor Sanderson, the Archbishop of York’s Advent Book for 2026.

Inspired by some of the people pictured here, and their own experiences of angels, 'Walking with Angels' invites us to slow down, step outside, and engage both body and spirit as we journey through Advent.

The book is available now from SPCK and independent bookshops in Hull and further afield!

“I was shocked to hear the heartbreaking news of this morning’s fatal collision on the A66. My heart and prayers, along with those of churches across our town, go out to everyone involved and to all whose lives have been changed forever by this devastating crash.

“Words are inadequate, but we pray that all those affected, including those who serve in our emergency services, may know God’s presence and love.”

The Rt Revd Barry Hill, Bishop of Whitby, who serves communities across Middlesbrough.
