Holgate Methodist Church

Holgate Methodist Church Traditional Sunday Worship, weekly 10.30am; Messy Church, usually 3rd Saturday monthly 4-6pm; Community Event, usually 1st Saturday monthly 4-6pm

Holgate Methodist Church has Sunday worship at 10.30am most weeks - lasting about an hour. This is generally followed by light refreshments. Messy Church takes places monthly during term time, usually on the 3rd Saturday, 4-6pm - it has a dedicated page at www.facebook.com/HolgateMessyChurch. At Messy Church we start with refreshments and some activity sheets before doing a range of vario

us craft activities, we then have tea and then share in a short worship session with songs and bible stories. Messy Church is for all ages - we ask that children are accompanied by an adult, but adults are welcome without children! Our current Minister is Rory Dalgliesh. We are also on Instagram . We also have space available to hire, for either regular bookings, or one-off events, such as parties. For more information please look on our website.

He is risen! Alleluia!

Today, on Easter Sunday, we celebrate Jesus' resurrection three days after His death on the cross.

May the risen Christ fill your soul with joy today.
May you live as one who has seen the empty tomb and cannot keep the good news to yourself.

In the name of Christ, Alleluia!

Today, the light of the world has come into our darkness. We celebrate the birth of Jesus, the light of hope, peace, joy and love for all people.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Please remember that we are open for our Christmas Day Service tomorrow at 10:30am. πŸŽ„

All are welcome - whether you're coming alone or with family - to join us as we celebrate this special day!

It should be bit shorter than our usual hour longer service, so plenty of time to get back and tend to the turkey.

Children and the young-at-heart are encouraged to bring a present to show to everyone. Festive attire is most welcome - be it christmas jumpers, matching pyjamas, santa hats or something else!

Today, as we light this candle of love, alongside the previous three of joy, peace and hope, Lord, we thank you for sending your Son – the most amazing gift of unconditional love. Let your love fill our hearts this season, and help us to love others as you love us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

Today, we light this candle of joy, alongside the previous two candles of peace and hope, as a sign that our joy can be restored, as we watch and wait in great anticipation with all God’s people for the promise to be fulfilled.

β€˜Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
of peace and hope and joy.

It's the time you've been waiting for...the release of this year's quiz!!!
As usual, Will and I have created this as a way of supporting Holgate Methodist Church. We've had our children (15 and 10) helping with some of the questions so bear that in mind if you've got youngsters at home or are seeing any younger relatives/friends this Christmas! It's very much a quiz aimed at all generations and hopefully it'll be a lovely thing to do together over Christmas!
All donations will go towards much needed church funds. Holgate Methodist Church is not just a place of worship, but central to the community as well, with the pre-school and uniformed organisations using it every weekday, as well as being used by lots of other people and groups too. With it being such an old, large building, it obviously needs lots of care and attention, and your donation will help it get that! All the details for how to donate are on the quiz sheet, or just drop me a message.
Winners and answers will be sent out in January.
Happy Quizzing and Happy Christmas!!

P.S. Please feel free to share the quiz far and wide with anyone you think would enjoy stretching their brains this Christmas! We have quizzers all over the country, and even some in Australia too! The more the merrier!
