YWAM York

YWAM York YWAM York's mission is to know God and make Him known in the city of York, England, primarily through hospitality, arts, youth work and mercy ministries.

**We do not check this page regularly. If you would like a response, please email us at [email protected].**

YWAM York is committed to seeing individuals and communities in York experience the love of God through discipleship, intercession and evangelism. In addition we have are seeking transformation in urban locations in the UK and Europe by training and equipping people to start new community

development teams. Community

We live in community (meaning all together!) in York. Being with each other through daily life means that we operate as a family rather than as a business. We are also available to mentor youth and young people who are a part of our YWAM Family or our wider community. Training

We offer training in the areas of discipleship, leadership development, community development, intercession and worship .We reinforce class room teaching with practical ministry experience. Serving Communities

We are developing new ministries in the Leeman Road area, serving the needs of youth, children, their families, and the elderly. At the same time we are continuing to partner with a number of grass root ministries in the wider city. Through our community centre, The Barnabas Centre, we offer free arts and community groups and classes for the community. These offer a variety of practical experience for team members as well as providing staff for these ministries. Local Church

We continue to build relationships with the churches in York, helping them to engage in mission both in the city and overseas. We offer training and resources in the areas of evangelism, discipleship and short term missions. Multiplication

In the future we aspire to be a training ground for missionaries so that they can gain experience and a heart for serving both in York and further afield in the UK, Europe or wherever God may call them! YWAM York is UK Charity No. 1194354

It truly was a Great Friday as we welcomed families from Tang Hall into Cornerstone yesterday. There were bubbles, egg hunts, face painting, Toddler crafts, football cage, hotdogs, free Bibles and more! And we got to reconnect with our friends from Leeman Road (pictured, obviously!) and brush up on our two-minute testimonies. On Holy week we remember Jesus and what He did, but we also remember the community of Christ-followers who literally followed Him from the foot of the Cross to the tomb, and then out to all the earth. We want to do that, too!

Some highlights from our city centre prayer walk today. We used to prayer walk the city centre almost daily when we arrived in York (It was Covid, after all, so there wasn’t much else to do!). It was so nice to do it again today in the good weather - and to find a busker singing worship!

An advantage of being York residents - we can go into the Minster whenever we want! We had our intercession time there yesterday, and we prayed for the Quiet Revival and those who will seek God in the most church-y church they can find (the Minster for us in York), for Bishop Flora as she keeps our diocese going, for everyone who comes through the Minster to find the reality of God and for the General Synod that is happening this week.

This morning we went to the Quiet Revival event with of , and we heard about what exactly the Quiet Revival is. While we experience a little bit of this openness to spirituality and God in our own relationships and youth work, we are asking God to help us to meet more curious people and we are equipping ourselves to be able to walk alongside those who have questions well. That being said, if you are somebody who would like to explore the Bible, let us know. We would love to explore it with you.

Last week we had a day of prayer for Blue Monday. Thank you to everyone who prayed! A few people reached out to share from their prayer times we would like to share it with you all. The picture and phrase that you see above were sent in. The person who took this picture of the snowdrop flowers prayed that people who need it would see a symbol of hope that day. Another person saw the snowdrop flowers on their walk and was also encouraged by seeing them - so there was a theme of snowdrop flowers and a symbol of hope. Another person shared about trusting God’s word over our feelings when they are not telling us the truth. Lastly we have the whole of Psalm 34, however we will just share verse 18 from it: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
