Welcome to the official page of York Minster, one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals and the centre of Christianity in the North of England. A visit to York Minster is your moment in the long history of northern Europe's greatest Gothic cathedral. You'll see traces of every age from the Roman occupation of York onwards to the future of this working and worshipping church. We aim to respond to comments and enquiries between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time, we may also check in at weekends. Our Facebook Policy

For over 500 years, the Rose Window at York Minster has been a quiet constant, watching over our city, welcoming visitors from every corner of the globe, and bathing the nave in its iconic light.

Crafted in the early 1500s as a symbol of unity, this masterpiece has survived centuries of history, from turbulent wars to the devastating fire of 1984. Today, deterioration from environmental exposure means it requires our care once again.

Together, we can ensure the Rose Window continues to inspire for the next 500 years.

For 1,000 years or more, York Minster’s magnificent spaces have resounded with choral music.

This we want to celebrate that we have one of the world's leading cathedral choirs which includes adult Vicars Choral and boy and girl Choristers aged between 7 and 13.

If your child loves to sing and is interested in becoming a York Minster Chorister make sure to book your place at our upcoming Chorister Experience Day on 7 November.
