Eight children, plus three parents and a couple of adult helpers, attended our half-term ‘Lego’ Holiday Club on 18th February. They made a Valentine craft showing God’s love to us, sang songs, played games, did a quiz, and watched two ‘Lego’ Bible stories, one of which was the parable of the house on the rock and the house on the sand. With a little help from several parents, they then made wonderful Lego models of the story (right).

For the third year running, bad weather prevented us from having ‘Carols on the Green’. However, around 30 people gathered in the church on 17th December to sing carols introduced by the Revd. Caroline Walker and accompanied by friends from St Paul’s Church, Sherborne.
On Sunday 21st December our church was packed with around 60 people for our Family Carol Service (see photo) led by Julie Ebsworth. At both events seasonal refreshments were provided. Collections at both amounted to £520.90, which will be shared between The Children’s Society and Action for Children.
Our Christmas Eve Holy Communion service was led by the Revd. Caroline Walker.

Last Sunday’s united Harvest Festival services went really well. After the morning service there was a Harvest Lunch, and in the afternoon a very-well attended Harvest Praise Service. The preacher at both services was Dr John Wibberley (pictured) of the Farming Community Network (FCN) – a charity that provides help and support for farmers who are going through difficult times. The morning collection and profit on the lunch raised £163 for FCN. The afternoon collection was £250 - shared between FCN and Tearfund.
The sale of fresh produce after the service raised a further £118 for Tearfund – a grand total of £531. A large quantity of tinned and packeted food was delivered to The Lord's Larder food bank at Yeovil.

We were delighted that eleven children attended our 3-day "Treasure Hunters" Holiday Club this week. They enjoyed singing, quizzes and games, listened to Bible stories, and created some great crafts, including Lego models. On the last day there was a Treasure Hunt, and they all took some treasure home.

V.E. DAY SERVICE
Our special united service on 8th May to commemorate the 80th anniversary of V. E. Day was well-attended by people from the village and neighbouring parishes. Ray Ursell led the service, and Geoff Chapman gave an audio-visual presentation. This included historic news clips, reference to answered prayers at the 1940 evacuation from Dunkirk, and a reminder that God’s kingdom will come when all human empires and political systems have vanished. The Revd. Caroline Walker, led the prayers. The service was followed by refreshments, including a special commemorative cake (photo) made by Joy at the local bakery. The collection raised £254 for 'Help for Heroes'.

12 children attended our "Winning Team" one-day Holiday Club. They had lots of fun singing songs, taking part in quizzes, and listening to Bible stories about David and Goliath and Jesus calling his team of disciples. They also played games, and did related crafts, including David's sling. (see photos).
