✨ A new school year begins! ✨

As the summer holidays come to an end and routines begin again, we know this can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves.

Whether your child is starting primary school, moving up to secondary school, beginning A-levels, college or a whole new chapter — we’re thinking of you all. ❤️

To every child and young person stepping into something new, and every parent, carer and teacher helping them along the way…

We speak a blessing of peace, confidence, kindness and hope over you all. 🌟

Here’s to new friendships, new opportunities and a wonderful year ahead. You’ve got this! 💛

⚠️ Please be careful when sharing your back-to-school photos 🎒📚

It’s such a lovely moment to capture — the new uniform, shiny shoes and that first-day smile. ❤️

But before posting, just take a moment to check what information you might be sharing publicly.

Try to avoid showing:
• Your child’s full name
• School name or logo
• Their class or teacher’s name
• Their age/date of birth
• Your home address or identifiable location
• Regular routines, drop-off times or locations

Those gorgeous “First Day of School” boards can sometimes reveal far more information than we realise.

Take the photo. Treasure the memory. Share it with those you trust — but let’s be wise about what we put online.

Let’s keep our children safe. ❤️

❤️ Our Teenagers — An Important Part of Our Community ❤️

We wanted to share this lovely post from our camp page because some of these brilliant young people are part of our own Horrabridge community. Some come along to Teens Hangout, some are involved in other community groups, and others live in the villages and areas surrounding us — but every single one of them matters and every single one is valued and loved.

One of the real joys of camp was simply watching our teenagers be together.

Phones went down, and somehow the simplest things created the biggest laughter! They made up their own games, sat around talking, included one another, encouraged each other and formed new friendships. There was laughter — SO much laughter! — but also kindness, confidence, individuality, acceptance and a wonderful sense of unity.

Sometimes we can spend so much time thinking about what we need to teach the next generation that we forget how much they can teach us.

Community. Friendship. Inclusion. Being present. Having fun. Looking out for one another.

At Love Your Neighbour, we want our young people to know that they are an important part of our community. We see you. We value you. We believe in you. And we will continue to encourage and champion you as you grow. ❤️

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1

🙏 Holding Those Who Are Hurting in Prayer

Our hearts ache as we read the devastating news today.

We are holding in prayer the family and friends of the precious life lost following the accident at Big Church Festival, along with everyone who witnessed what happened and the wider Big Church community.

We also hold before God all those affected by the incident in Nepal — those grieving, those injured, those waiting for news, and the communities whose lives have been changed.

At times like this, words can feel inadequate. We may not have answers, but we can pray, we can stand alongside those who are hurting, and we can entrust them into the loving arms of God.

We pray for comfort in grief, peace in the midst of shock, strength for the days ahead, and for God’s presence to be known especially closely by every broken heart.

“The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart.”
Psalm 34:18 ❤️

From all of us at Horrabridge Methodist Church, we send our love and prayers to everyone affected. 🙏

We are devastated by the serious incident that took place at Big Church Festival 2026 today, in which a sign fell, injuring at least seven people, one of whom tragically lost their life.

First and foremost, all of our thoughts are with those who have been affected, their families and friends, and everyone who witnessed what happened.

Following today’s incident, we have made the decision to bring Big Church Festival 2026 to a close.

🏕️❤️ A Little Look Back at this years TMC Community Family Camp

What a week! Our annual Community Family Camp has once again reminded us what can happen when people simply do life together.

Families and individuals from our community headed to the beautiful South Devon coast for a week of camping, eating together, beach days, paddleboarding, games, Woodlands, fancy dress, family rounders, children and teenagers making friendships, shared meals, laughter, conversations, prayer and plenty of wonderfully ordinary moments in between! ☀️🌊🏄🏼‍♀️

But underneath all the activity was something much deeper.

Community. Belonging. Relationship.

Some friendships went back years; others were brand new. Children who had once been at primary school together reconnected as teenagers. Adults sat around tables and talked. People cooked for one another, washed up, carried bags, looked after children, encouraged each other and simply shared life.

Each morning we gathered for prayer and faith conversations, exploring Jesus, His love for us and what it means to love our neighbours. ❤️🙏🏼

For us, this is part of what pioneering ministry in Horrabridge has become.

Church doesn’t always have to begin inside a church building. Sometimes it grows around tables, friendships, shared experiences, conversations and communities where people know they are seen, loved and that they belong.

We went to camp as families from a community, but throughout the week we were reminded again that we need one another.

There were beautiful moments, hilarious moments, challenging moments, tired moments and deeply meaningful ones — real life, lived together.

And perhaps that’s what made it so special.

Jesus said:

“As I have loved you, that you also love one another.” — John 13:34 ❤️

We came home tired, probably with far too much washing 😂, but incredibly thankful for another week of memories and for every single person who helped make our Community Family Camp possible.

Loving God. Loving people. Loving our neighbours. And doing life together. ❤️🏕️

🌿 LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR HORRABRIDGE IS OFF TO BIG CHURCH DAY OUT! 🙌🏼❤️

This weekend, one of our wonderful Love Your Neighbour leaders, Emma, is heading off to Big Church Day Out, joining around 40,000 others for an incredible weekend!

Emma is going to support one of our dear friends, artist Christine Durant who has supported Love Your Neighbour over the years and helped us reach out into our community through her beautiful artwork. 🎨❤️

And an exciting door has opened…

Emma has been invited to share at the Skate Park, where around 10,000 people will gather over the weekend. She’ll be interviewed by Matt Finch, who heads up Pioneering for the Methodist Connexion, and will have the opportunity to share a little of the story of Horrabridge Love Your Neighbour at Big Church Day Out, Wiston House Estate. 🙌🏼

She’ll be sharing something very close to our hearts — the story of how, for the past eight years, we have simply sought to love our village.

How we’ve tried to meet people where they are.

How we’ve laughed together, eaten together, supported one another, prayed, celebrated, grieved and simply done life together in so many different ways.

We’ve loved Horrabridge — and Horrabridge has loved us right back. ❤️

So we’d love your prayers for Ems this weekend as she shares our little village’s story with a much bigger crowd!

Pray that God gives her the right words, that she enjoys every moment, and that our story might encourage others to simply look at the people and places around them and ask:

“How can we love our neighbours?”

From a little village in Devon to Big Church Day Out… who’d have thought it! 🥰🙏🏼❤️
