1st Yate Boys Brigade

We are based in Yate Methodist Church in Yate and meet on a Monday Night Weekly.

Over the past few weeks our company section have been learning some DIY skills around the church. The main thing was to sand back the walls in the men's toilets and then repaint. It took them a couple of weeks but the room looks a lot better with some new paint on the walls.

Monday night our company section attempted to break some world records such as most toilet paper rolls stacked in 30 seconds and how many cups can you balance on someone in 2 minutes. They all gave it a good attempt but sadly they didn't beat the records.

Last Monday our Company section made mouse trap cars. They all got very involved and it was very good fun. Unfortunately the cars did not come out very well and didn't really go!! We will try them again in the future.

Happy Mothers day from all our Anchor boys to all the Mum's. Thank you for everything you do for everyone.

Last Monday our company section got their cook on and made some cookies. They all had a lot of fun and may of got slightly messy in the process. The cookies looked good at the end.

Monday night was flipping great. Watch some of our lads and officers flip some pancakes. Thankfully none were dropped or got stuck to the ceiling!!

Monday night our Company section did an evening on escape rooms and pancake making. We kicked of the evening with the boys having to solve 4 puzzles based on maps to then be able to escape. It was good fun and the boys had to think hard about what they had to do. In the later parts of the evening we made pancakes and then the boys ate them with their own choices of fillings.

Monday was our Junior Section bring a friend along evening. The boys did some group activities such as building bridges to see how much water they could hold along with biscuit decorating.

On Monday our Anchor boys learnt about the Giraffe that couldn't dance story. The boys then went on to make craft giraffe's and learn about different facts about them.

For the last session before half-term we ran a darts themed evening for our company section and senior section lads. We played a variety of games such as win the board and precision knockout where the aim is to hit the piece of paper as it gets smaller every time until you are the last person standing. We also did a small quiz on darts players names.

Last Saturday some of our company section travelled down to Highbridge to take part in the District Sports Competition. It was a great day for all the lads involved and everyone got stuck in with playing the game. We even managed to come away with a 3rd place in EXTREAM dodgeball and runners up in Football.
