1st Yate Boys Brigade

On the final Froday of camp along with the rest of the Avon Battalion Boys' Brigade our band took part in ceremonial retreat to mark the end of the week.

One of the things we love most about welcoming groups to our campsite is seeing everything they get up to during their stay. Whether it's games, adventurous activities, camp duties, creative crafts, or simply making lifelong memories, every camp is unique.

But one of our absolute favourites has to be a parade. There's something truly special about seeing young people taking part in a tradition that has been passed down through generations. It's a wonderful reminder that these customs continue to thrive and always brings a smile to our faces.

Now that we have all recovered from a week in Prestatyn its time for some more photos. Friday was the last day of tent inspection. All the boys did very well and the competition was very close. Later Friday evening at the awards we found out that for the entire week Tent 2 was the best tent winning by only 0.35 marks.

Yesterday evening the boys visited the local arcade and spent some time on the machines along with a much beloved cow who tried to gamble her life savings and safe her fiends from the claw machine.

Yesterday afternoon we visited the local leisure center to do some climbing and iGames. All the boys enjoyed themselves and made it to the top but unfortunately e no one made it up the hardest wall.

Yesterday we took a walk down to the beach to play Bessie ball on the beach followed by basketball on a court. All boys took part and gave it their all and we will find out the results this evening.

To start off Thursday we started to practice for Ceremonial Retreat on Friday. Within this the band plays and the boys will be doing drill. It is nice to see some of the boys learning new tunes while some have never picked up an instrument before and giving it a go.

The penultimate day of tent inspection!! This year all the tents are extremely close with each other and it is still all to play for. Today tent 1 and 2 drew with each other and tent 3 coming in a very close 2nd.

Last night was film night and the boys selected to watch Tangled. It was an enjoyable evening and everyone seemed to enjoy the film.

Yesterday afternoon we took all the boys on a nature walk in the local area. We were dropped 4 miles or so from camp and then walked back through fields. The boys also had to take a photo with their mascot with something using each letter of the Alphabet.

This morning the boys partoke in some inter-tent sports as well as some individual competitions. Everyone gave their best effort and we will see who the winners are come Friday.
