So a lovely thing happened this morning - all three of our churches met at St Martin's, Llay, and we shared coffee, cake and fizz in the newly refurbished church hall afterwards. We'll be opening as Bread of Heaven, a pop-up coffee shop, from Saturday 19 September, and we can't wait to share it with you. Saddened to hear of the death of the incomparable Dolly Parton earlier today, as I know many will be. Not just an extraordinary entertainer, but a speaker of truth about life and love, a tireless campaigner for justice and an end to poverty and an all round force for good in the world. A bright light has gone out. May she rest in peace, and rise in all her rhinestoned glory.

The weather is cooling slightly, and we're very much hoping it will be perfect for our Open Air family communion service at Christ Church, at 10.30am on Sunday. Everyone welcome, please bring something to sit on, and we'll be gathering in the churchyard garden. If you've not been to church for a while, or maybe you've never been, this would be a good opportunity to dip your toe in the water!

This Sunday is the next of our monthly family services at Christ Church, Rossett, when we’ll be thinking about Jesus’ friend Peter, whose festival we celebrate next week, and about midsummer as we mark the summer solstice and the longest of days. Do join us – it would be lovely to see you.

Not long to go til our next fundraising coffee morning on Tuesday 30 June - a great opportunity to meet up, share cake and support the life and work of Christ Church. A huge thank you everyone who supported our two recent plant sales, which raised the magnificent sum of £1345 for church funds. A particular thank you to Mary Taylor and her band of volunteers who helped beforehand and on the day, and to Mary herself who nurtures all the plants through the early spring months, to make sure they're in tip-top condition on the day. We hope they're blooming nicely in their new gardens!

Tomorrow at 10.30am is our monthly Family service here at Christ Church, and we'll be thinking about the God who makes things grow. Do join us, it's a shorter and more child-friendly service, perfect for anyone who's curious about, or returning to, church.

Next Sunday is our monthly Family Service at Christ Church - whatever family means to you, you're very welcome! Nice, easy start time of 10.30am, more informal worship followed by coffee and chat. If you're finding your way back into faith, this would be a great start.

The weather's looking settled for tomorrow's Rogation Sunday Walk over at Isycoed - do join us for a gentle walk, blessing the fields, animals and water as we go, followed by a simple service in church. Meet at St Paul's at 3.

A huge 'well done' to the pupils of St Paul's VA Primary School in Isycoed, who decided to hold a coffee morning in support of Shooting Star as part of their FeelGood Friday today. Shooting Star have provided great support to one of the school community in recent month and the children were keen to do something to say 'thank you'. It was great to see so many people there, chatting and supporting this great cause, and the chocolate caramel shortbread was absolutely *outstanding*!
