Worplesdon Parish Page

Worplesdon Parish Page We are a friendly, open and welcoming church community, with enjoyable worship and a relaxed atmosphere.

We believe that God calls us to be at the heart of the area, serving the needs of the whole parish including the communities of Worplesdon, Wood Street and Fairlands. This means that we try to reflect the love of God in all that we say and do, growing closer to each other as caring friends and closer to our neighbours. Newcomers are always welcome and we hope that you will find a spiritual home here - all are truly welcome.

Mission completed! The completion of our Double Flush project was celebrated yesterday at St Mary’s - we are so thankful to the many, many people who gave time, money and support to get this renovation done. We now have a hot drinks station and two toilets - one with wheelchair access and baby changing. Come and visit and see! ☺️

Can you help? 🧶

We are planning to create a poppy field at both churches for Remembrance Sunday this year, these will be along the roadside on the banks around the notice boards, and at St Mary’s hopefully all the way up to the church. This will take a big community effort, we plan to contact local clubs and organisations to help. The knitted or crochet poppies will be fixed to small garden canes later in the year. If you have relatives, friends or neighbours who can knit or crochet please ask them to help. We need a huge amount of poppies so that’s why we are starting early! We have patterns and wool available from both churches and patterns by email from the church office.
Can’t knit or crochet? You can still be part of the project by sponsoring a ball of wool. The current cost is £2.20 per ball, you can make a donation through BACS Ref ‘Poppy wool’ or in cash to the office or to our wardens. If you have any spare red double knit wool do pass it to us we would gladly use it! 🧶

Into the Wilderness today - TASA created this amazing piece of art to represent the Wilderness we encounter in the bible. We talked about how Lent is linked to the 40days that Jesus spent in the wilderness and watched a video by The Bible Project about moving from Wilderness people to Garden people. Now all we have to do is tolerate our string bands on our wrists for 40days as a small reminder of the discomfort of the wilderness - can we do it?!
