REPAIR BILL FUNDRAISER - St John’s needs your help!

As you will know if you have been inside the church recently, the Becket Chapel is cordoned off. This is because the roof is in serious need of repair. On top of that, the boiler is failing and needs replacing, and the tower clock needs a new motor.

In all, we expect these repairs to cost over £80,000.

Like all other parish churches, we receive no central funding for repairs and we, the congregation, are entirely responsible for paying for our church’s upkeep. As we always do, we are endeavouring to raise as much as we can through our fayres and other events and applying for grants where we can. We definitely need your help as well. Anything you can donate will go towards preserving this special place.

So, whether you are part of the living Christian community of St John’s, or if you have fond memories of this place, if you or your parents got married here or you were christened here or you remember Mr Lambert on his bicycle, or if you care about local heritage…

Please follow the link to donate: https://whydonate.com/fundraising/st-johns-cinl-repairs

All donations go straight to St John’s. We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Even if you can’t donate, please like and share (from our page) as visibility helps a lot. Thank you.

Yesterday, churchwardens and supporters from across the diocese gathered at Southwell Minster Minster for the annual Archdeacons’ Visitation and admission of churchwardens to office.

This year’s theme, Inspiring Worship, featured reflections from Archdeacon Phil on embracing both traditional and contemporary worship, alongside contributions from Stephen Bullamore (Organist at St Mary’s, Newark), Tom Walters, and Hannah Crutch.

Please join us in prayer for all those admitted as churchwardens yesterday. You are also warmly invited to the next Visitation Service at Southwell Minster on Tuesday 21 July 2026 at 7:30pm.
