It's great to see so many churches getting involved in the Heritage Open Days. An event at St Mary's Church in Ripple over the weekend drew in 367 visitors, taking them back to the 17th century with the Sealed Knot and delicious jumbals (biscuits). The day was organised by Anthony Wardle, Nick Blake and Karen McBride who said: "We were delighted that the visitors were so genuinely interested and engaged - we're now thinking about plans to reach out to an international audience!" Worcester Cathedral are hosting a Green Investment Roadshow on Thursday 24 September, 9:30am - 2pm.

How can our money help build a better world and support the transition to a more sustainable economy? Come and explore how Christians and churches can champion support for renewables, low-carbon technology, and nature-based solutions through investments and greener banking, and learn how to best use our voice to advocate for political change.

Five new Readers (also known as LLMs – Licensed Lay Ministers) will be admitted and licensed by Bishop Hugh this coming Saturday in the Cathedral.

This year’s Readers have trained alongside ordinands on our own Auxiliary Pathway course and have reflected on their particular calling. As LLMs they are called to work with their clergy as preachers and teachers of the faith, and leaders in mission. At the heart of their calling is helping churches and Christians interpret Scripture and Christian tradition faithfully and appropriately for today’s contexts from lay perspectives of work, leisure and social engagement. As part of that they may also lead worship and share pastoral ministry.

Pray for those being admitted to this ministry: Barbara Adams (Netherton & Derby End), Kath Apperley, Matt Guy (both Gornal and Sedgley), James Hawthorn (Bromsgrove) and Andrea Stevens (Ipsley). Pray also for their clergy and parishes as they welcome them, support them, and receive their ministry.

Did you see the Bishop of Dudley on Midlands Today yesterday evening, reflecting a month on from the wildfire in Stourbridge which meant he had to evacuate his home. We continue to pray for all those who have been affected and are planning a service at St Thomas' Church Stourbridge on Sunday 18 October at 7pm to which all are welcome. More details to follow.
