🎉 Mark your calendars for an inspiring evening! 🎉

Retirement is so much more than just a permanent holiday—it's a profound, biblical gift. Join us as we celebrate the launch of Tudor Griffiths' thought-provoking new book, “The Rest of Life.” Come discover fresh insights on identity, faith, and honoring God in life's next major chapter. Everyone is welcome!🗓️✨

Book Launch
“The Rest of Life – Biblical Perspectives on Retirement”
Author: Tudor Griffiths

Date: Tuesday, 16 June 2026 at 7:30 pm
Location: Church Croft, Royal Wootton Bassett, SN4 7BQ
Admission: Free

Retirement is neither work nor holiday; this book considers retirement as Rest, which is a very significant Biblical idea, explored here as a key navigation tool to find our way through this stage of life. The book addresses the important question of Identity, essentially a gift in Christ and not our achievement.

This is not a book with all the answers to a good retirement, but it is an invitation to think using Biblical insights and perspectives. The author draws widely and deeply on the Bible as a key resource for a retirement that honours God in the last major stage of life.

About the Author:
Tudor Griffiths retired from Anglican ministry after 40 years working in parishes, mission work and theological education. Brought up in South Wales, he has lived and worked in Wales, Uganda and England. He is still active in churches on both sides of the Wales-England border and has recently finished a year as Mayor of Chepstow. He is married to Anna and has two sons and five grandchildren. He has a PhD in mission history and is a Canon Emeritus of Gloucester Cathedral.

Putting Hope into Action 🌍☕

This year’s Christian Aid Week kicked off on Sunday, May 10th, and we are so excited to come together as a community at St. Bartholomew & All Saints Church!

For over 80 years, Christian Aid has been a voice for justice, partnering with communities of every faith and none to tackle the root causes of poverty—from the climate crisis to unfair economic systems. This week, we stand in solidarity with families like those in Nairobi, Kenya, who face the daily struggle of urban poverty.

Join Us for Coffee & Cake! We’d love to see you for a special morning of fellowship and support:

• When: Saturday, 16th May
• Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
• Where: The Croft

Every cup of coffee shared, and every donation made, helps "put hope into action," creating lasting change for mothers and grandmothers working to build a better future for their children.

Whether you can stay for an hour or just pop in to say hello, your presence makes a world of difference. Let’s come together to stand alongside those who need it most.

See you at The Croft! 🍰✨

Join us for an engaging evening of thought-provoking conversation and reflection.

A Programme of Talks and Discussions about Christian Thinkers

📅 Thursday 7 May 2026
🕢 7:30–8:30 p.m.
📍 St. Bartholomew & All Saints Church – Church Croft

Our next talk explores C.S. Lewis and Mere Christianity (1952).

Christian history is full of thinkers and writers wrestling with the human condition and their understanding of god. Francis Spufford is a celebrated novelist for works like Golden Hill but is also a practising Christian and wrote a defence of faith with the subtitle, ‘why, despite everything, Christianity still makes surprising emotional sense’. Karen Armstrong is a former Roman Catholic sister who left her convent as a young woman and became a popular writer on religion, writing books on Muhammad, Buddha, and the commonalities between faiths. She sets out her later, more mystical Christian Faith in The Case for God. C.S. Lewis may be the most well-loved and influential Christian thinker in the modern Church of England. He argues that the experience of the Second World War persuades us that there really is good and evil in the world, and that means there is God.

✨ Free event – all are warmly welcome. Come along, listen, and join the discussion.
