Thank you, Dawn!

After five years as our Children and Young Families Worker, it’s time to say a very big thank you to Dawn and wish her all the very best for the future.

Over these five years, Dawn has given a great deal to the children, young people and families of St John’s, and we’re very grateful for the care, hard work and commitment she has brought to the role.

Dawn’s family have also been a big part of our community here at St John’s, and we want to thank them too for all the ways they have shared in the life of our church.

Dawn, thank you for everything you’ve given to St John’s over the past five years. We wish you every blessing and happiness for whatever comes next!

With love and thanks from everyone at St John’s.

Listen out for St John’s on the app!

From Monday 10 to Saturday 15 August, the daily reflections on the Church of England Everyday Faith app will feature contributions from our very own St John’s.

Never heard of the app? "Everyday Faith" is a free app from the Church of England, designed to help us notice and follow God in our everyday lives. Each day includes a short Bible reading, reflection and prayer—and you can either read it or listen to the audio.

The reflections are short and easy to fit into your day: perhaps over breakfast, on your journey to work, while out walking or before you go to bed.

Download the free app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, and join us from 10–15 August. Please share this post with friends and family—we would love as many people as possible to listen along!

Lovely to see Bishop Mary making time to invite Church Wardens from across the Archdeaconary to her home, including our very own Jenny Ayliffe (2nd from the right). So blessed to be in a diocese that values and cares.

"Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven... brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old." - Matt 13:52

This past Sunday, Revd. Mark Nam reflected on Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 13, reminding us that “the old and the new belong together in the kingdom of heaven.”

We were encouraged to consider whether some of the “old” things in our lives might, in fact, be the “new” things God is inviting us to rediscover.

Come and try something new that is also steeped in history, wisdom and tradition. Join us this Wednesday for our midweek service of Holy Communion.

What goes up, must come down! This is the moment that the first of our three historic bells was lowered to the ground. The bells have been safely transported to 'Whites of Appleton' where they will undergo restoration. Watch this space for more exciting updates in the life of our bells.

And so it begins! The wonderful team from Davis Scaffolding arrived yesterday morning to get the church ready for the Bell extraction. Church Services will continue as normal, and the front entrance will still be in use.

It is still not too late to donate towards the project. Visit our website for more details on how to give: https://www.stjohnswoodley.com/bellsappeal
