I am really sad that Pope Francis died. Like John Paul the first, a people's pope. Humble, caring for the people, not just the powerful, but especially for the humble classes. Hopefully the next pope will continue Francis journey

Usually I go to holy Mass on Sunday. However during advent the mass on Saturday evening is ad orientam, all facing east. So my friend and I decided on an early meal and went to holy mass yesterday. It was so nice. Ad orientam just feels right, community and priest all together facing the altar, facing east. I pray to God that our midnight mass on Christmas Eve will be ad orientam. Continental style advent in Wolverhampton. One cannot get advent wreath with 4 candles at affordable prices in the UK, my solution is to buy a regular wreath , put it on a round serving plate and place 4 big candles in the middle. Smile

I am very sad. I have missed Patrick and his family in church for a long time. Such a lovely traveller family. Today I finally found out why they have stopped coming. His mother in law was in hospital for surgery and the family asked our priest to visit. Sadly he did not and the family has now switched to another parish. I cannot blame them and I do understand. However our parish is diminished without them.

Pope Francis in the USA. He is a real shepherd! In German we call priests "Seelsorger" care taker of souls as well. And he truly is a care taker of souls.
