Do you know a local volunteer?

πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ People in Wolverhampton are being encouraged to nominate their local hero for recognition in the one-off 50forWM50 initiative.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the West Midlands county and the West Midlands Lieutenancy. In honour of this milestone, the 50forWM50 campaign has been launched to acknowledge and express gratitude to volunteers throughout the region who selflessly devote their time to assisting others.

Volunteers from all walks of life and age groups are eligible for recognition; there's no age restrictions or no minimum duration for their volunteering efforts – whether it's one month, one year, or even 50 years. Fifty volunteers from Wolverhampton will be invited to attend a 'Big Thank You Bash' in June - and one could even have a Metro tram named after them!

Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre said: β€œThis is a great chance to nominate those unsung heroes in our city who go above and beyond to help their fellow citizens, and to give them the recognition they so richly deserve." To nominate someone, visit https://www.unitedby2022.com/50forwm50 by 17 April, 2024.
