Today is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows which commemorates the seven great sorrows of Mary our Mother.
Let us reflect on our Lady’s deep suffering:
1. At the prophecy of Simeon: "You yourself shall be pierced with a sword - so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare." (Luke 2:35).
2. At the flight into Egypt; "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt." (Mt 2:13).
3. Having lost the Holy Child at Jerusalem; "You see that your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow." (Luke 2:48).
4. Meeting Jesus on his way to Calvary;
5. Standing at the foot of the Cross; "Near the cross of Jesus there stood His mother." (John 19:25).
6. Jesus being taken from the Cross;
7. At the burial of Christ.

St Christopher’s school Mini Vinnies are holding a party on Friday 16 October after 9.30 Mass . There will be arts, crafts, bingo, coffee and cake. All are welcome 🍰 ☕️

Happy Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. This feast honours Christ’s Cross, an instrument made sacred by the Lord’s offering of Himself upon it for our salvation.
At the base of the brass Altar Cross in St. Thomas’ there is an inscription in Latin, AVE CRUX, SPES UNICA which translates as Hail to the Cross our only Hope.
"We should glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our life and our resurrection: through him we are saved and made free." 🙏

Today is 62 years that the Foundation Stone was laid at St Thomas’ by Mgr Richard Foster. ‘The architects Jennings, Homer & Lynch have so designed (the church) that full advantage may be taken of all the liturgical changes, now and in the future’.

The Most Holy Name of Mary feast day honors Mary, the Mother of God, as blessed. It takes place each year on September 12th, four days after the feast of the Birth of the Blessed Mother. The feast day encourages us all to pray for her intercession to deepen our love of Christ and our relationship with the Lord. Happy Feast Day to all 🙏
