Remember....

06/10/2026

Rev Alison shared this video in this week's service and our Monday fellowship group have also used it as a platform for discussion this week - who isn't at the table? Who is God inviting to be part of our church? How can we extend that invitation to those who perhaps feel they are not worthy to be invited? A wonderful and challenging message of welcome and inclusion!

As we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent, the church family will be hosting characters from the Nativity as they journey with us towards Christmas.... Some of them spent the morning in Junior Church and they have all left church with their travel journals and will hopefully encourage folks as they travel with prayers and reflections added by those they stay with!

We will remember them.

Everyone from the oldest to the littlest in the church family had the chance to remember those who give and gave given their utmost to keep us safe and pray that peace would reign.

Just a reminder that it's the half marathon tomorrow morning so allow extra time for travel!

Just a reminder of this weekend's alert test on mobile phones which can have unwanted consequences for personal safety for some. We will also try and give a reminder in Sundays service.

🚨 Nationwide Emergency Alert Test🚨

This Sunday 7th September 3pm.

The UK’s new emergency alert system will send a loud siren, message, and vibration to every compatible phone even on silent. Survivors of abuse with hidden phones could be put at risk if the device is discovered.

You can opt out in your phone’s settings to protect your safety.
✅ iPhone: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts
✅ Android: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts (and other threat categories if listed)

We pray for all the children and young people going to school for the first time, moving schools or going back to school in new classes over the next few weeks. We pray that they would not be anxious but be confident in who they are and ready to learn the best they can.

Also for teachers and school staff, we pray that they would feel peace about the coming term and have wisdom in how they deal with their students.

Amen

In the last couple of weeks both Junior Church and our fellowship group have had a session thinking about the concepts of justice, fairness, hope and speaking out.

We've looked at the bible to see what God has to say about these things and spent some time discussing our thoughts. We've then taken some time to make some speech bubble questions, formed from our discussions, to be added to the URC's tent at Greenbelt Festival .

The URC are sharing space with Trussell and the aim is to share questions that we might ask if we sat down with someone important, in authority or with power. The questions from both groups were really interesting and we hope people at Greenbelt enjoy their own discussions surrounded by our questions!
