As we prepare for our Step into Christmas Festival, 11th–13th December 2026, we are offering the opportunity to remember a loved one with a seasonal display at the end of a church pew.

Much like our Scarecrow Festival, each pew end will be decorated for the festive season, and you are invited to dedicate a display in memory of a loved one.

Christmas can be a time of joy, but it can also be a time when we feel the absence of those we love. This is a lovely way to honour their memory and keep them close in our thoughts.

Thank you for helping us make our Step into Christmas Festival a meaningful celebration of love, remembrance, and preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ.

The church looked absolutely beautiful with the wonderful flower displays created for our Harvest celebrations!

A big thank you to everyone who helped with the preparations, from arranging the stunning flowers and decorations, to all the time, care and effort that went into making our church look so special. Your hard work and generosity are truly appreciated.

On Friday 16th October 2026 our Vicar Merry was licensed by the Bishop of Wolverhampton as Rural Dean of Trysull, alongside Rev Mark (West Bromwich Deanery), and Rev Taiwo (Wednsbury Deanery). We pray for Merry as she takes up this additional responsibility.

Churchyard paths at St Chad's Church, Pattingham

The paths in the new churchyards, the area by the west door and the path from there to the new churchyards are being relaid over the next few weeks.

Paths in the two new churchyards will be relaid between Wednesday 14th October and Friday 13th November. While this work is being done the contractors will do their best to ensure that access to the churchyards is possible.

From Monday 16th to Friday 23rd November the area by the west door and the path to the new churchyards will be relaid. While the contractors are working access may not be possible. When the contractors finish for the day (by 3.30 pm each day) and over the weekend they will leave the paths safe so that people can use the paths. Those who wish to visit the churchyard on weekdays during that period may find it better to come after 3.30 pm to be certain of access.

While the work is taking place the contractors will be using dumper trucks which will be going along the path between the church and the lychgate as well as the paths in the new churchyard. For those who are able to do so it will be safer to use the path from the gate on Patshull Road to come into the church while they are working.

St Chad's NEW Christmas Event - 'STEP INTO CHRISTMAS'

Are you creative or artistic? Can you help the Church this Christmas? We need 3D displays, paintings and/or collages representing your favourite Christmas Carol to help us 'Step into Christmas'.

We've seen your scarecrows! We know there is lots of talent in Pattingham. Have some fun, be creative, help decorate the church.

Join us in St Chad's Church to celebrate Harvest on Sunday 27th September.

At 10 am there will be an All Age Communion Service. This is great for kids, everyone is welcome, something for everyone. Feel free to stay for tea, coffee, biscuits and chat after the service.

At 6.30 pm there will be a more traditional Communion service.

Those attending either service are encouraged to bring harvest gifts which will be presented for blessing during the service and will then be donated to The Well foodbank.

Pattingham Drama’s November production celebrates the women who dared to fly.

Pattingham Drama proudly presents Spitfire Girls, a moving and uplifting stage play by Katherine Senior, inspired by the extraordinary true stories of the women pilots of the ATA, the Air Transport Auxiliary, who delivered war planes to RAF Aircraft airfields around the UK during World War II.

The play centres on two sisters, Bett and Dotty, who leave their family farm during WWII to join the ATA, much to their Father’s annoyance, ferrying aircraft such as Spitfires, Hurricanes, and even bombers across the UK. They face danger, sexism, grief, and moments of exhilaration in the sky.

Years later, on New Year’s Eve 1959, Dotty walks into The Spitfire Pub, run by Bett as rain lashes the windows - and the play shifts between past and present as they confront old wounds, lost loves, and the legacy of their service. Their conversation transports audiences back to the 1940s - to a world where female pioneers ferried Spitfires, braved dangerous skies, and proved that skill knows no gender.

A story of courage, loss, and hope with funny, heart warming, and deeply emotional, Spitfire Girls shines a spotlight on the women whose wartime contributions were long overlooked.
