We’re very excited about our forthcoming performance of the Purcell drama “King Arthur”. It is a mildly silly story with plenty of comedy and lots of different colourful characters! We’ve planned some fun props, the spoken libretto will make the story clear and the music is wonderful- particularly look out for the famous song “Fairest Isle”, the shivering “Cold chorus” and the raucous hay-makers verses. There’s also a beautiful long scene based on a repeating music chord pattern during which a variety of shady characters attempt to seduce King Arthur away from his true path. Our period instrument ensemble will add the necessary sound world and we believe you’ll be transported into the myths and legends of the Ancient Britons.
Seating is comfortable, parking is easily available and we include refreshments in our ticket price- please get yours now! We’ll see you for the 7.30 start on Saturday 27th June in St Mary of Bethany church, Woking

Many thanks to the team for putting on a thoroughly enjoyable last Saturday. The function room was buzzing, with over 100 people chatting, laughing, and scratching their heads over a range of intriguing questions. The break for the delicious curries included more chat and pondering over the table rounds. One team came away with wooden spoons for their efforts, others clutched raffle prizes, whilst the winning team members scooped a bottle of wine each (aided by Fr Rob’s inspired full marks on a table round). This fun event raised the fantastic sum of over £1,400 for the Project.
If you were unable to come to the quiz night but would like the questions (and answers!), please make a small donation via the Dona machines in both churches – using the “Quiz Night” option – and email [email protected]

St Hugh’s Ramblers
After many years rest St Hugh’s Ramblers are starting to walk again! These will be monthly walks of about 4-5 miles in and around Woking. They will be open to all parishioners from both St Hugh’s and St Dunstan’s and will be social walks where the emphasis is to walk and talk. Our first outing will be on Saturday, 4th July with a circular walk from Heather Farm carpark taking in McLaren Park and Fairoaks Airport. For those who live near St Hugh’s we’ll meet in St Hugh’s carpark at 10.00am to arrange for car sharing and for others we’ll meet at Heather Farm at about 10.15. Please dress appropriate for the weather on the day and come with refreshments. If you want further details speak to Roger (07501056679).

Stella Maris (formerly called Apostleship of the Sea) is seeking one volunteer from this parish please to help with Sea Sunday (which falls on 11/12 July this year) in this parish. This is the day when the Church comes together to pray for seafarers, fishers and their families, and takes a second collection to support the work of Stella Maris. The volunteer will read out the appeal (which Stella Maris will provide) at the end of Masses that weekend. If you can kindly do this, please contact [email protected]

The 10:30 Mass choir, led by Claire and accompanied by Merlyn, celebrating today’s Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). The 10:30 choir are a lovely diverse group who are always happy to welcome new members of all abilities (they particularly need more lower voices). They rehearse on a Wednesday evening at 7:30pm most weeks. Today’s feast is a celebration of Jesus’s Body and Blood which we receive in the Eucharist (Communion):
So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
