The Retreat is the highlight of the year for us all, teachers, coaches and students The brother/sister hood found is there for all.
The importance of coming together to worship, breaking bread and living together should not be underestimated, not for any age group. It creates love and patience in our hearts, and a yearning for Allah and His Beloved. Communal worship makes it easier, and drives one to do more. This is vital at a young age.
This is why events like the Retreat are so important for the spiritual development of our youth. Some fail to see it, and be become fixated upon bank balances and financial gains, but fail to see the benefits of such investments like the Retreat. Usually the fruits are seen much later, even years later but you will see those fruits.
Many of our previous participants have gone on to become teachers of the Islamic sciences, teaching at the Madrasa, home or elsewhere, some have now become volunteers themselves, other are involved with community projects, others regular attendees at prayers. I'm not saying the Retreat is the sole cause of this, of course not, but without a doubt it has a part to play in their development and the connection can be seen by those involved. The children live in an Islamic environment for a few days that tries it's best to show the beauty of this faith, and when that leaves a mark, it's hard to wipe away.
May Allah allow us to continue to be in service to those who will carry the light of Islam to future generations, and May they benefit from us. Amīn
