We're back to 2 services tomorrow, and Suzy is preaching on the Family of God!

It is Foodbank Sunday so please remember to bring a donation of cash or food (or both if you're able to). Tins and long life food can be left on the display in the foyer, and there's envelopes on the welcome desk for you to use to place a donation in the collection bag.

There was no wooden gate at the entrance to some ancient sheepfolds. The shepherd himself became the gate.

Once the sheep were safely inside, he would lie across the opening through the night. Anything that wanted to reach the flock had to pass him first, and any sheep wandering out would have to cross over him. His body stood between the flock and danger.

This gives Jesus’ words in John 10 such depth: “I am the gate for the sheep,” and, only a few verses later, “I am the good shepherd.”

Jesus offers more than directions towards safety. He places Himself at the entrance. He watches through the night, guards those in His care and stands between His people and whatever comes to steal, kill and destroy.

The gate and the shepherd are one.

We rest securely because the Good Shepherd remains at the opening.

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” John 10:9
