As we move today from Wishaw St Marks to the new combined charge of Wishaw New Kirk, we hold out the hand of friendship to the new congregation, there’s a lot of work in front of us, and a lot of changes for all of us. It won’t all happen in the first few weeks, but we will get there.
Here’s to 2025 and the new charge of Wishaw New Kirk.

29/12/2024

There has been a short delay in the service starting, hopefully in 5 minutes

28/12/2024

Tomorrow is the final service of Wishaw St Marks, service as usual at 10.15am. Tea, coffee and chat after the service.
Sunday 5th of January sees the start of the next chapter of the charge as Wishaw New Kirk, service will be at the new time of 11am.
If there’s no space left in the car park there is an area at the end of denholm drive, just behind the church with access through the lane at the side.
Tomorrow will also be the last service streamed live on this page, after this we will be on the Wishaw New Kirk page.

24/12/2024

Christmas Eve service tonight starts at 7pm.
Halls open at 6.30pm for tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies. All welcome.

Update on the page after the 31st of December.
As of the 1st of January the Cleland l/w St Marks page will no longer be used.
The new page we had started, “Wishaw St Marks” which was renamed “Wishaw New Kirk” will be deleted.
We will be using the Wishaw Old Parish page as it has the necessary set up for live streaming. At the turn of the year it will be renamed Wishaw New Kirk.
This is the best option for us going forward, some of you are already following the Old Parish page and so you do not have to do anything, you will automatically follow the renamed page. If you start to follow the Old Parish page just now that will be you ready for the future, or wait till the turn of the year for the renamed page.
Thanks to all who have followed this page and hopefully we see you in the future.

Fingers crossed this Sunday coming, the fourth Sunday in advent (22nd), we are able to stream live.
There was an issue with the iPad being used that lost the WiFi signal.
As indicated previously, we do not have the password for this page so we could not change the name when Cleland closed, at the time a new page was created “Wishaw St Marks”.
To date we have 63 followers on this new page but need 100 followers to be able to go live, during this week the new page will be renamed “Wishaw New Kirk”, please take the time to follow the new page.
It is intended that following the final service of St Marks on the 29th this page will no longer be used and will eventually be deleted.
Sunday 5th January will be the first service of the new joint charge and at that time the service will go out on the page “Wishaw New Kirk” to begin with, this may change and the service will be on you tube, but that is for the future and help will be offered to access that.
We hope to see you on the new page.

It seems we have a technical issue this morning, hopefully we can get back online shortly

11/12/2024

Sunday 15th December, third Sunday in advent, the service will be led by Lynette as usual, however we also welcome Rev Paul Grant back to carry out a baptism.

04/12/2024

Sunday 29th of December will be the final service of Wishaw St Marks Church and we intend to mark the occasion with a special service, to which all past and present members, and anyone with a connection to St Marks, will be very welcome.
Everyone is invited to stay after the service for a final cuppa, blether and maybe even a mince pie and some shorty.
EDIT: On Sunday 5th of January services will commence of Wishaw New Kirk in the St Marks building, the new charge is the amalgamation of Wishaw St Marks, Wishaw Old and Cambusnethan Old and Morningside following the reorganisation of churches in the Wishaw area. All will be welcome to come along to the new charge. More details will follow in due course.

28/11/2024

Sunday 1st December
First Sunday in advent

24/11/2024

Following this morning’s service, the vote on the basis of union with Cambusnethan Old and Morningside and Wishaw Old Parish was held, along with the vote on the term of reviewable charge.
Both votes were carried in favour.
We now await the results from the other charges today, and for the go ahead from Presbytery on the 3rd of December.
