St Patrick's R.C Church Shieldmuir, Wishaw

St Patrick's R.C Church Shieldmuir, Wishaw St Patrick's is a Parish in the Diocese of Motherwell serving the areas of Craigneuk and Wishawhill

Saint Patrick's Parish was founded in 1891 by the first Parish Priest Canon George Ritchie under the authority of the Archbishop of Glasgow - His Grace the Archbishop, Charles Peter Eyre. The present Church building was erected in 1898 in the neo gothic style by Pugin & Pugin. Over the years the parish population has grown and also decreased. After the close of the Ravenscraig Steel Works and the

growing unemployment in the area, many people moved from the parish to other parts of the country, the UK and around the globe. A great sense of faith, family, and community is instilled in the people of Craigneuk and Wishawhill and these are our greatest strengths. Our current Parish Priest is Father Krzysztof Garwoliński, who is the Chaplain to the Diocesan Polish community. We hope that the Church of Saint Patrick in Shieldmuir will serve its purpose for a long time into the future.
