As war broke out in the summer of 1914, not a nation on Earth understood the magnitude of what they were about to face. To win it, whole populations had to be mobilised, and neutrality was impossible. The scale of destruction was unfathomable and no life was left unchanged.
In 'Ring of Fire - A New Global History of the Outbreak of the First World War' historian, author and presenter Alex Churchill brings to life this radical new history.
This is not history told by β€˜great men’, this is a people’s view of the war. Eyewitness accounts translated from more than a dozen languages break new ground to reveal an inclusive, touching and surprising tale of events we thought we knew.
Book now for June 18th at the Royal Logistic Corps Museum. Tickets cost Β£12 and include refreshments.

The PSTN landline switch-off.

By January 2027, the UK's old copper phone network will be switched off, area by area, in many areas this has already happened.

For older or vulnerable residents, particularly those with telecare alarms or no mobile phone, it can be confusing and potentially risky if they're not prepared in time. Please look through the checklist and contact your telephone provider if you are unsure about anything.

Volunteers

We are also keen to recruit volunteers for the walk. Please could you share the below information should you be able to post this walk as a volunteering opportunity.

This event relies on the generosity of willing volunteers. If you would like to support Against Breast Cancer with the marshalling of Breast Walk Ever Hampshire, we have plenty of roles available on the day. Please email [email protected] to let us know, and we can provide you with options. You will be given a full briefing as well as refreshments throughout the day. No experience necessary.

Against Breast Cancer funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread. Working with expert scientists, we want to increase the survival rates of all breast cancer patients and ultimately, discover a vaccine against breast cancer.
