✝️🗝The Cross Keys at the Heart of Our Parish.

✨ At St Peter's on this 21st Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Gospel centred on St Peter — the rock of the Church — whose symbol, the keys, are woven throughout our parish’s sacred space. They appear in our stained‑glass window, the stone plaques at the entrance, the glass partition in the narthex, and now on the new centenary lectern fall.

A fitting reflection in our centenary year, reminding us of the faith, heritage and mission entrusted to St Peter and carried forward by our parish community today. 🙏💫

This Sunday, 16th August, our parish will be supporting CAFOD’s urgent call for action on the global debt crisis. Around the world, many countries are trapped in impossible debt repayments — leaving families without access to healthcare, education and basic essentials. CAFOD is asking the UK Government to champion a fairer, more just approach.

After all Masses on Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to add your name to CAFOD’s petition and stand in solidarity with communities who are carrying the heaviest burden.

Your signature is a simple act — but together, it becomes a powerful voice for justice.

The Assisted Dying Bill is due to return to Parliament for further consideration on 11th September 2026.

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales has published information outlining the Church's position on this issue, together with background information, frequently asked questions, and guidance for those wishing to learn more.

The website includes resources explaining the concerns surrounding assisted su***de, answers to commonly asked questions, and information for those who wish to engage by contacting their MP asap.

Happy World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly! ❤️

Today the Church celebrates the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, a special occasion established to honour the invaluable gift of our older generations and the wisdom, faith, and love they share with families and communities.

This year is particularly significant as 26th July coincides with the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus and the parents of Our Blessed Lady.

We give thanks for all grandparents and elderly members of our parish family. Your example of faith, service, resilience, and love continues to inspire us and enrich the life of St Peter's. May God bless you abundantly today and always.

We were also delighted to welcome back Žiga, the seminarian from Slovenia who spent time with us on pastoral placement two years ago. It was wonderful to have him accompanying Fr Pedro at the 10:30am Mass today.

Žiga, thank you for visiting us. We wish you every blessing and assure you of our prayers as you continue your formation and prepare for your priestly ordination next year. May the Lord guide and strengthen you in answering His call.
