NWCC meets on Sundays 10.30am face to face, both in homes and online via zoom. We are currently reflecting on Jesus as a teacher, healer, prophet and high priest. You are warmly invited to join us for a time of interactive discussion, prayer and worship. Please get in touch if you'd like to join us, we're a friendly bunch, and we'd love to meet you, in person or online!
Building community.... everyone is welcome!

It's December 9th. Some Christmas traditions seem to have been around since forever, when in reality they've only been with us for a couple of hundred years at most. Take the Christmas tree. Adapted from other wintertime traditions, and popularised by Queen Victoria's consort Prince Albert, the Christmas tree is not the ancient invention some claim, but a relatively new idea.

The last 18 months have seen some churches make radical changes as to how and where they meet. Not everyone is happy about this, but, over time, given a proper chance, people can adjust to new ideas - until what once was a new idea becomes a new tradition of its own.

Let God speak into your heart this Christmas. Allow Him to guide you through this time of change on the path to His heart.

It's December 8th, and today's post is a cracker! Strange things, these. They don't appear at any other time of year, and few, if any, know the tradition behind them. But we carry on with them just the same. Church can seem a bit like that - why do we do these things that we do? But the value is in the gathering, the fellowship, the getting together, rather than the odd and random details. Whatever traditions you follow, may the *people* you gather with this Christmas bring you real joy. And may God bless you all in all you do.

It's December 7th, and for today's Advent Calendar, we're thinking about gifts. The Magi brought gifts suitable for a King, even though they didn't know exactly who or what they would find. We all have gifts to share with others - our time, our love, our full attention, as well as practical things - and Jesus calls us to bring, and give, our best.

It's December 6th, and for today's Advent Calendar a few thoughts about journeys. The Magi (the Wise Ones from the East) travelled far to seek the coming King - and they weren't wrong. Wherever you have been in the past, and whatever you have done, Jesus is worth seeking out.

It's December 5th, and for today's Advent Calendar we have a few thoughts on Christmas lights. Christmas comes just after the shortest day - the darkest time of the year. The tradition of Christmas lights started as a reminder that Jesus Christ *is* the Light of the World, and that He stepped down into darkness to show us all the way to His Father's heart - by following the path on which His light shines...

It's December 4th, and for our Advent Calendar today, we take you to Wi******er's bustling Christmas Market. For the last few years, the market has included a Nativity scene where people are invited to 'put themselves in the picture' and take a photograph sitting with Mary and Joseph and the baby Jesus. For many (most, even) this is just a bit of fun - but for one or two, this may stir a memory of a story they were once told. And maybe, just maybe, this is all it takes to bring them back to the kind of gathering they once knew.

However long it is since you were last in any kind of gathered church, know that you are welcome, at any time of the year...

It's December 3rd. As a gathered fellowship, we've been mourning and remembering one of our Church family. So for the Advent Calendar today, we're just going to pause for a moment.

If you've lost someone recently, let us sit with you a while. May God bless you and all those you love in this season of your life.
