We are eight churches in the villages of All Cannings, Bishop’s Cannings (with Cannings Hill) Etchilhampton, Chirton, Marden, Urchfont, Stert, Wilsford also serving surrounding hamlets of Allington, Bourton, Coate, Conock, Horton and Wedhampton.

Quiet Christmas Service
St. Michael & All Angels Church, Urchfont
Monday 15th December –6.30pm

A moment of quiet reflection at this busy time.
While the Christmas season is often filled with joy and celebration, for some it can also be a busy, overwhelming, sad or lonely time.
Our Quiet Christmas Service offers a space for peace, comfort, and hope.
Whether you're grieving, feeling stretched too thinly, or simply in need of a quieter moment this season, you are warmly invited to join us for a gentle and reflective service.
Come as you are - to sit, to take a deep breath, to pray, to remember, and to find light in the darkness.
All are welcome.

Commissioning/Recommissioning Service this evening -
Tuesday 21st October at 6pm- St Michael and All Angels, Urchfont

This special service is intended for the whole Benefice and everyone from any of the churches or villages is most welcome to attend.

There will be refreshments afterwards in the church, so please do come along!

The service is being led by the new Archdeacon of Wiltshire, Venerable Louise Ellis. Louise started her new role in March this year, having previously been Vicar of Holy Angels, Lilliput in Dorset for the last seven years - as well as Diocesan Vocations
Co-ordinator. Previously she was ordained and lived and worked in Southwark Diocese for ten years. We hope you will look forward to meeting her as this is our first opportunity to welcome her to the Benefice.

There are five new Lay Worship Leaders due to be commissioned - . They have been trained up for the role over the last few months by Revs Robert Sanday, Sam Park and Richard Curtis. At the same time three current lay Worship Leaders who have led many services throughout the Benefice over the last ten years are being ‘recommissioned’. Also being recommissioned are two of our Benefice’s Lay Pastoral Assistants.

We hope to see lots of you at the church that evening.

Family Pet Service, this coming Sunday (5th October). Join us as we give thanks for our beautiful world.
All creatures great & small welcomed. The service starts at 3pm, but why not come along beforehand and help us make a bug hotel in the churchyard, this starts at 2.30pm. Refreshments provided after the service.

Deanery Evensong, 31 August
The next Devizes Deanery Evensong is on this coming Sunday 31 August at 6 pm in St John’s, Devizes.
This gives us all a chance to hear the super organ that has just been installed in St John’s in the last few months—it really is a fine instrument.
St John’s Director of Music, Joe Scarffe, will conduct the choir; the Rev’d Andrew Sinclair will sing the service, and the Rev’d Gerry Lynch will preach.
If you’ve been to previous Deanery Evensongs, this service will include some interesting new repertoire including ‘The Ripon Service’ for the Mag and Nunc and the Anthem ‘God The Holy Trinity’ by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange.
New singers are always welcome. If anyone would like to join the choir, the rehearsal starts at 4.15 pm sharp!
We will have drinks and nibbles after the service.
