Welcome to St Michaels
St Michael’s has served the Swinley and Whitley districts of Wigan for nearly 140 years and aims to provide an open and inclusive welcome to all. Since 2014 we have been part of the All Saints Wigan Team of Churches. This comprises 12 churches in Wigan Town Centre and the area to the North and North-West, including Ince and Haigh and Aspull
Our main Sunday family service follows Common Worship starting at 9:30 am. We have coffee and an informal get-together after the service, so if you’re new to St Michael’s do make yourself known to us. You will be made very welcome. We are “family friendly” and have a children’s corner and a Sunday School. Once a month the Scouts and Guides attend for a parade service.
The earlier and later services on a Sunday morning are said, and follow the Book of Common Prayer. At 8:00 and 11:15 respectively.
Our midweek communion service is on Thursday mornings at 9:30 am.
The Parish has an active social life including a Reading Group, the Institute (with three snooker tables), and a Friday Luncheon Club (in church). Full details are in our monthly Parish Magazine.
A variety of activities including drama groups and dancing take place in the nearby Parish Hall. The parish has active Scout and Guide units. Their headquarters is across the road from church.
We are open to visitors on Saturday mornings between 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon, as well as at service times.
Do come and meet us!
