In view of the high winds, I have decided to cancel tonight's vigil mass at St Cuthbert's. (4th October)
Whenever we have high winds we have slates coming loose, and the gutters are in a bad state. Whilst the corrective work is in hand (subject to diocesan approval), I fear there is a danger of slates or gutters falling and causing injury or worse.

The gale force winds are due to go away overnight and tomorrow's masses will go ahead as normal.

If you know of anyone who might intend to attend this evening's mass and may not be registered on our system, please let them know.
