This whole week (6-12th July) is RECOGNISE week for Liverpool Diocese and Church of England nationally, and I thought you might like to know a bit more about it.

RECOGNISE week is a week dedicated to celebrating and appreciating everyone involved in ministry with children, young people, and their families.

“Shining a light on the tireless, faithful work of those nurturing the faith of the next generation.”

As part of the celebration I was honoured to be nominated by Bishop Ruth, along with 3 others from Liverpool Diocese, to attend a RECOGNISE event at Bishopsthorpe Palace in York

Cream tea with Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, and inspirational talks from Ele Mumford and Ben Lindsay. Truly special day.

Today I joined the Diocese of Liverpool’s Youth, Children’s & Families’ Team for one of their special series of ‘Recognise’ prayer walks / pilgrimage, taking place as part of National Recognise Week. The aim of the walks is to celebrate and give thanks for all the incredible volunteers who serve children and young people across the diocese.

Each walk spans the boundary of two deaneries, and includes the opportunity to journey in prayer for the children, young people, and those who faithfully support them along the routes and across all the churches and communities in the deaneries.

It was a privilege to welcome the team to St Luke’s Church this morning, where there was prayer and giving of small gifts before we all set off to walk the 2.8mile route across the boarder of the Widnes Deanery into the St Helens Deanery, ending our walk at St Ann’s Church in Rainhill. It was a powerful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed and I got lots of steps in for the day too.

Powerful visit to Chester Cathedral yesterday to see ‘Threads through the Bible’ exhibition. Three sequences, ‘Threads through Creation’, ‘Threads through the Cross’ and ‘Threads through Revelation’ as one exhibition.
It took the textile artist, Jacqui Parkinson, ten years to craft the 44 panels, which were absolutely enormous and so detailed. I’ve included here just a few pics of some of my favourites panels.

I would definitely recommend a visit - exhibition running until Sunday 28th June at Chester Cathedral. Exhibition open during regular Cathedral operating hours.

Ascension Day Service
Today (Thursday 14th May) 7pm @ St Luke’s Church.
******************************
All welcome to attend.

Attending an Ascension Day service—typically held 40 days after Easter—is a significant act of worship that celebrates Jesus Christ’s completion of his earthly ministry and his return to heaven to reign as King. It is considered one of the great feasts of the Christian faith, marking the moment Jesus was received into heaven, signifying his victory over death and his ultimate authority.

Hope to see you there! Xx
